Mike Stroud evening
- Jessica (1st Oct 2010 - 08:16:07)

Bohunt School is delighted to have Mike Stroud, an extremely experienced polar explorer, speak in the Multi Purpose Hall on Wednesday, 6th October from 7:30. He has worked with Sir Radolph Fines and I'm sure he has many stories to tell!

'Sir Radolph Fines'? The name rings a bell...

Sounds like an excellent evening.

That should read "Sir Ranulph Fiennes"

25 students from Year 10 and Year 11 (14 - 16) are saving up to go on a scientific expedition to Greenland next summer. They are doing all sorts of things to raise money such as supermarket packing, car washing, car boot sales and this event is being organised by them (with help from the school). All profits made from the evening will be shared out amongst the students.

Tickets cost only £5 (£3 concessions) from Bohunt Reception and there will be a raffle and a auction of promises.

It looks as if it could be a really interesting evening so if you are free why not come along and support these enterprising students.

I have to admit that I am a bit biased as my son is involved, so far he has saved almost £1000 but has another £1700 to go.

Just giving this another plug as my daughter (she of the typo of Ranulph Fiennes) and the rest of the people going on the trip are trying to raise funds for their Greenland trip in 2011 this Wednesday at Bohunt school. In addition to the talk by Mike Stroud, I understand there are some great raffle prizes on offer (£100 Red letter day voucher) and a trip on a 42 foot yacht in the Auction of promises. Not to be missed. There are also tickets available for the Gig for Greenland on Friday 8th. Please do what you can to help these young people raise the money they need. Whilst some are getting support from parents, others have to raise the whole £2500 themselves.
