TAYLOR WIMPEY PREPARES TO START WORKS ON TRAFFIC CALMING MEASURES IN LONGMOOR ROAD, LIPHOOK

Work will soon start to install traffic calming measures in Longmoor Road, as part of Taylor Wimpey’s Oak Park development in Liphook, Hampshire.

As part of the planning consent for the new development, the leading local housebuilder is working with Hampshire Highways to improve the road network by installing a new roundabout for access into the development.

The developer will also reduce the speed limit, build road narrowing features and improve the existing road markings along Longmoor Road, between Griggs Green Farm and Bohunt School.

Work is due to start on Monday 10th April 2017, and is anticipated to take approximately 16 weeks to complete.

Dan Castle, Technical Director for Taylor Wimpey says: “We apologise for any inconvenience the roadworks may cause, but would like to assure local people that we are working to ensure that the improvements are carried out as quickly as possible, keeping disruption to an absolute minimum.”

For more information visit the Taylor Wimpey website at www.taylorwimpey.co.uk

As someone who lives n Longmoor road, I am very pleased to hear this.
Cars leaving Liphook, come screaming down the road (not all cars) at breakneck speed! These measures will hopefully make Longmoor road a safer road.

This is great. Fantastic that someone is finally doing something about the speeding problems in our village (though I imagine Taylor Wimpy have been forced to do this to go someway to negate the issue of the increased traffic their development will cause) I'm very pleased for the residents of Longmoor Road but now please, please can we have some of these brilliant traffic calming measures on Haslemere Road too??!!
Breakneck speed doesn't even cover it, it's completely shocking.

If they are as good as the ones down portsmouth road
Where cars overtake through pinch points dont hold your breath for slower traffic

Anyone who believes that the roundabout under construction in the Longmoor Road is some kind of traffic calming system, should understand that this new junction is the only entry and access to the new housing estate of some 200 plus homes. It is anticipated that this alone will generate at least a further 700 journeys a day

Add to that the new sixth form college due to open on the other side of the road in September. It is anticipated that the volume of traffic will be enough to slow the speed to a crawl for everyone.

How dare the younger generation of liphook and surrounding areas have a new fantastic education facility on their doorstep eh Paul.

This will save us parents THOUSANDS and I mean THOUSANDS in travel expenses to colleges further away. Merrist wood for example cost us £200 per month in expenses to get our teen to!
Getting really fed up with the youngsters of the village being put in 2nd place behind the older generation. The village is geared towards the older generation.

I hope the traffic calming measures are more sophisticated than speed humps which destroy your car's suspension over time.

On the subject of speeding on Longmoor Road - and no doubt I'll get torn apart for saying this - I've seen residents of Longmoor Road speeding on their own road, and elsewhere. Many times I've been on that stretch when residents pull out of the driveways and speed off into the village. Not all, but some. People in glass houses etc.

And while I'm at it - the car's constantly parked in the apex of the turn between Longmoor Road and Forest Lane Close are a significant hazard to road users and pedestrians alike.

Hi Paul, I live in Forest Lane Close, and agree with you about the cars parked in the entrance, can obstruct view of cars turning in and out.
I don't have a car myself, so no speeding from me.
H, my child go's to Merrist Wood! Maybe we can share transport and half the cost of travel? Just a thought!
