Thanks to Green Dragon & L&S Coffee House for their support - Sumi Olson (30th Mar 2017 - 19:13:55) Just wanted to thank Trevor & his staff of the Green Dragon, and Lucy & Sarah & Karen from L&S Coffee Shop for their support with my community literacy events this week, Booze & Books and Coffee & Books. The idea is to have a relaxed social gatherings in friendly surroundings for parents. grandparents & carers with a book party on the side. I'm currently raising money for a book fund for Hollywater School which my son attends. (I will add the justgiving link - the page link is broken and I'm waiting for help to fix it). The fund will be books for Hollywater Library, and also make available a really important book for all parents (whether or not the children have needs) about online safety. The book that I'd like to gift to Hollywater parents is "Staying Safe Online" usbornebooksathome.co.uk/... It deals with cyberbullying, sexting, financial exploitation and other issues. All of these are of concern to parents with children/young adults with additional needs who are particularly vulnerable. I personally have heard three difficult cases in the last couple of months alone. Thanks to this week's events, we've raised enough for two books. With more support, I hope to have seventy copies of this book, and funds for other titles to add to the library for general reading.
