Anchor garage
- John (30th Mar 2017 15:31:23)
Passing garage wed afternoon, looked like workshop area being surveyed with ground source radar, as you see on time team. Is it for tower block flats, or German supermarket. Time will tell.

Needs to be a garage so that Darren Faulkner can come back.

While they are surveying the garage, get them to survey the Square too, it would put an end once and for all time to the fanciful tales of tunnels between various buildings. (Written with tongue partially in cheek!)

The lease of the former Anchor Garage premises has been taken over by my company, AFEntertainments Ltd.
Following a successful application for change of use, we are about to commence work to modify the interior of the building, and after completion, on mid-summer’s eve we will be opening an exciting new licenced entertainment venue in the heart of Liphook.
We aim to light the village up, literally and figuratively, and create a vibrant, buzzing night life scene for both Liphook locals and visitors from further afield to enjoy.
The Hot Fuzz Night Club will serve a wide range of quality wines, beers, cocktails and spirits. Tapas dishes available until 11pm. We will be open 7 nights a week from 8pm to 3am. Over 18s only. Security on door.
Each evening will offer a different experience:
SUNDAY: Cabaret and Cocktails Night – evening dress.
MONDAY: Wild Karaoke and Comedy Night. 2 for 1 on drinks before midnight.
TUESDAY: Vegas Casino Night – Poker, Black Jack and Roulette tables.
WEDNESDAY: LGTB Singles Disco. Free drink upon entry.
THURSDAY: Ladies Night – male strippers, alternating weekly with Gentlemen’s Club - pole and lap dancing.
FRIDAY: DJ Club Night - Alternative rock, heavy metal, ska and punk.
SATURDAY: Party Night – dancing to live music – free entry for party goers in fancy dress on Tribute Band nights.
We have something for everyone, so get ready to have some fun!

This sounds absolutely awful with much more problems than benefits fir Liphook.
I am hoping very much that this is a April Fool's Day prank.

Good news for the village ! ! !
I hope that this entertainment is open to all ages.
I envisage an over sixties night but would like to make sure that there is plenty of wheel chair and mobility scooter parking facilities. Also bus passes or pension books to be shown to avoid gate crashers
Good luck with the project

Can't see much for the older residents? Are you going to have an OAP night?

Re: Anchor garage
- A FALLON (1st Apr 2017 15:38:14)
Thanks to all for responses.
We are of course keen to include entertainment for all ages over 18 including our valued Senior Citizens.
The cabaret evening will include performers who sing music from past eras. However, our experience elsewhere shows that many over 60s who grew up in the 1960s and 70s prefer rock and heavy metal music to melody and light entertainment, so we hope to see them (in their leather jackets?) on Friday nights.
We are keen to take into account the wishes of the local community, so we will consult with older residents and if there is a demand, we can include bingo on Tuesdays, and of course all ages are welcome to sing karaoke, join the Saturday night parties or attend on other evenings.
We do not plan to have special OAP nights as we feel that this would unnecessarily segregate the older generation as a group. In practice we find that our older customers really know how let their hair down (if they still have any!) and have a good time, often more so than those in their 20s, so we hope all ages will feel welcome to all events.
There will of course be ramps for wheel chair and mobility scooter users to be able to access the stage if they wish to tip the performers on Thursday nights.
Our business will of course generously sponsor all local charities and sports clubs.
During our first year, we will pay for new Christmas lights for the village and for a new skate park away from residential housing but in an accessible place. We will sponsor all the Liphook in Bloom flower beds, construct an underground car park for the Infant and Junior Schools, and donate new play equipment to the Recreation Ground.
We will help to resurrect the Willows nursery school, pay for public CCTV cameras to ensure no dogs’ mess on the village green, enter a team in the annual Charity Bike ride and of course, take part in the carnival with a dancing bunny girls float.
If you have any other requests for ways we can support the local community, please feel free to talk to our staff who will be pleased to listen and take action.
Have a nice day.

I'm a bit concerned that this venture could cause traffic problems due to on street parking.
Have you considered making the Midhurst Road car park multi-storey?

Iceland....really???!!! Please let this not be true. Where will shoppers park not to mention more huge delivery lorries jamming up our country roads and square. It's bad enough with Sainsburys juggernauts without adding to the problem.

Just checked this out on the jobs site - nope - nothing in Liphook.
Breathes sigh of relief!
Not because I don't want another food shop. but because parking would have been impossible for a shop with heavy footfall in that position.

Anyone heard anything more on what's happening with the garage? Lots of activity recently and I have heard rumours that people are looking at turning it into a restaurant and cinema with housing to the rear
