Frogspawn
- Mrs Frog (4th Mar 2017 - 17:56:52)

Hi I have a very healthy frog population (no fungus) in my little pond.
They seem to have "spring fever" overload, and as such my pond is now brimming with frogspawn.
I thought I would ask, on Talkback, if anyone who has an "empty" pond, would like some of mine!

Hi there,
Sorry to be the voice of doom, but please don't translocate spawn. It is a great way of transmitting diseases- especially important now with rana virus, frog herpes virus and others causing big problems. Plus there is usually a good reason why a pond does not have a resident population of amphibians....lack of food, lack of suitable habitat around the pond, water quality issues, or the presence of fish! Be glad your pond is doing so well and allow those froglets to disperse to colonise other areas naturally. Really useful info here:

Phill
