Couch to 5k Running Group
- Daniel (22nd Feb 2017 - 17:38:55)
Couch to 5k Group Starting in March
Having run a successful couch to 5k program in September and with spring around the corner I will be running another program in March. Maybe your New Year resolutions fell by the wayside pretty quickly or maybe they didn't even start, well you can change that and achieve those resolutions with this program, whatever your reasons for wanting to get fit, this might be for you.
This group will get you from not running at all to running a 5k in 11 weeks.
The group will start with run and walk rests over the first few weeks, building up over the 11 weeks to complete a 5k.
I am a qualified UK Athletics running coach who is insured and has the relevant licence to coach.
Only 15 places available.
For more information on when it starts and cost please contact Daniel at couchto5k@hotmail.com.

Is this part of the Run England scheme?

Why would you pay for someone to "encourage" you through this C25K program? When it's widely available on dozens of formats. If you need a crowd get over to Alice holt park run, it's free and you have 300 people encouraging you, not 15
Money doesn't get you fit,
You do

Hi
I'd just like to comment that I did this course when Daniel ran it last year. Yes I could have just gone out on my own and for some that's all they need. But the course was a great motivator for me especially on evenings where if I'd just been going out on my own I might have chosen the sofa instead!
There was a great sense of camaraderie amongst the runners too. We all did warm up exercises at the start and stretches at the end and Daniel made sure we were all progressing at a pace which suited each individual.
So all in all this is a thorough recommendation from someone who did the course and the 5k run at the end.

I also completed this course with Dan last summer, it was worth every single penny & I'd highly recommend it too.
Running as a group, with a coach was a brilliant way to get active, meet people and have fun. I started off barely able to run a few paces, at the end of the course I completed the 5K and have gone on to join a local running club (although there's no pressure to do this!)
The course was well planned by Dan & was often supported by his fellow runners, who also encouraged, supported & motivated us to achieve our goal.

I was a part of last year's group and would also wholeheartedly recommend it:
This was one of the most positive experiences of exercise that I've had, and being part of the group was a real incentive to keep to the running schedule - it even prompted all of us to run if we took a week off for holidays! Dan is a really great teacher - totally engaged and committed to the process of helping you improve, listening to individual needs and keeping you safe. Having some other members of his club run with us meant that everyone was supported no matter what level we were at. Although I had initially felt a little aprehensive, joining the group wasn't remotely intimidating - everyone was lovely!
For anyone who is in two minds about taking the plunge, I hope that reading these testimonials helps you with your decision.

Thank you so much for getting us all through the 11 weeks of training to to able to complete our first 5k park run today at Staunton country park.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience and met some lovely people. Who would of thought after only being about to run for a minute I would now be able to do 40 mins!
A huge thanks to Daniel and all your running club helpers, you have made such a difference to my life.

I wholeheartedly agree with Claire.
I have also just completed the Couch to 5K, something 11 weeks ago, I would never have believed I could do.
Daniel and his team of helpers are amazing and inspirational, they support, encourage and guide you both as a group and on an individual level to achieve the 5K goal, and most importantly, believe in yourself.
It doesn't matter how fast (or in my case slow) you are, (or shape, size or age for that matter), the team make you really feel like you have achieved after each session.
Whilst comments on this thread question why you would pay, the fee is nominal, and for two training sessions a week and the associated support, worth single penny. I would have given up weeks ago without the network of support and encouragement around me.
It's a great programme, with great support from the team, and I was lucky enough to meet a group of very lovely ladies. If there is another opportunity, I would strongly encourage people to sign up.
