The Carnival Queen's Float: can anyone help? - Bob Joyce (19th Aug 2010 - 14:25:44) Can anyone offer or suggest a safe place to keep the Liphook Carnival Queen's Float? The Float was built about twenty years ago by our predecessors on the Carnival Committee and it has served us well for all those years, helping to give numerous young ladies of the village a day to remember. But it has always been stored in a local field under a tarpaulin, and so it gradually deteriorated to the point where it had become dangerous to use, with rotten floor and timbers. So last year we gave it a major renovation. In order that all our hard work isn't gradually undone again by the weather, we need a dry and secure building to protect it. If any villagers can help to find a safe place, perhaps a disused barn or outbuilding that's available for year-round storage, we will be able to hand the Float on to the next generation.
