Little black boxes
- Bill Ratcliffe (16th Aug 2010 - 16:49:15)

Hi

Is anyone aware of the purpose of the black oblong boxes that have been placed in the hedgerows around Liphook.

The boxes are about the size of a large toblerone. They have a numbered felt mat on the ground in front of them and are marked by a pink ribbon tied to a nearby branch.

There are dozens of them in the hedgerows around the A3 bypass.

can you give a more detailed area? is this the Bramshott Side of the bypass or nearer the petrol garage?

Have not seen them yet, but could be nesting boxes for for Dormice, see here:

Hi

The boxes are between Longmoor Road and the A3.

They are tied to tree branches so would not be suitable for doormice.
