Local Police/In General
- MattD (27th Jul 2010 - 13:12:30)

One of our employees in Passfield was shot at with a powerful air rifle sunday evening in our yard, missing his head by inches. Windows of a lorry in our yard were also shot out causing damage of over £1,000 aswell as pot shots taken at our building and security lighting. Despite attending briefly that evening the police have not yet been back to speak to anyone affected or to look for those responsible even though we can pretty much point them to the said peoples front door.

The penalty for firing an air weapon onto private land is 3 months imprisonment and/or £2,500 fine.
The penalty for having an air weapon with intent to damage property is 10 years in prisonment.
The penalty for having an air weapon with intent to endanger life is life imprisonment and / or appropriate fine.

My question is, luckily nobody was injured this time but it is quite often on the news about irresponsible air gun users who have killed or maimed a child or unsuspecting cat. At what point do the police take these kind or incidents seriously and does anyone know who we can contact when they don't? We have a crime number but after repeated calls no one has yet bothered to turn up.

If you think it is bad now then think on. Estimates vary on the cuts that are to be made in Police funding 20% - 25% as the Home Secretary said this morning Police funding is not 'ring fenced'

May I suggest that if you get no satisfaction you contact the Chief Constable at Hampshire Police Headquarters at Winchester. He, of course, will not be toddling along to the scene of the crime however when he shouts 'sh*t' someone will jump on to the shovel.

Good luck

Paul Robinson
