Shame on the council!
- M.S. Kirby (25th Nov 2004 - 22:13:57)

I have read in the pages of the Liphook times, Messanger and Liphook herald that a local lady is desperately fighting to keep her land from the claws of the council!
I don’t understand why the council does such things when most of the community (including her neighbours) support her fully, especially as she has improved the site and has done nothing (knowingly) wrong.

I am horrified that the council seems to be taking some vendetta against her, do they have nothing better to do? according to this forum they should; 'Chavs', 'Dog poo' and 'ASBO' orders to name a few!!

Yeah poor lady, I read about that. This is the one who is losing her horses and stables because the council are being pathetic? Yes EHDC, you gotta love em eh? Won't empty my bins if the lid is more than inch open. If they do that to me again, I'll empty all the rubbish on the doorstep in Petersfield for when they get to work in the morning. Infact I may do it anyway just to make a protest.

Yes, thats the lady.
I must say i like the idea of dumping rubbish in their office, we have the same problem.

Then again, they would probably spend the next few years serving eviction orders on the rubbish and ignoring any real issues that matter!

I would think the nearest answer to the actual truth of the matter is that they do it simply because, 1) they can, and 2) they have very little else to do in such a sleepy area. Not that any of those reasons make it right of course. Nobody seems to know who these people are, what they do or what constructive purpose they serve.

Perhaps Freddie could enlighten us on who they are accountable to and how we make our voices heard more clearly?

I have talked to several other Bramshott residents who's stables and land are also in danger from the Council.

They have written to EHDC asking for a public meeting into what is happening, if you wish to show your support for the Public Meeting, Mrs Williams and her Bramshott neighbours please write to the Council in Petersfield, or phone the Herald on 01730 263585

They would greatly appreciate all of your support

I am also fully aware of this serious matter, and the conqequences that Mrs Williams faces.

Please everyone Help Mrs WIlliams by writting or phoning as above. It will be very much appreciated, so it can help get the damm council off her back and leave her to enjoy her land, animals and reduce her worries.

I can now confirm that as of today (15/12/04) Mrs Williams was served with an injunction by East Hampshire County Council.

What an appauling thing to do to this poor lady and her animals.

I have spooken to Mrs Williams today and she would kindly ask, anybody who has not yet already done so, to sign her pettition which is in place at F.C Hiscock, the local pet shop, off the Midhurst Road.
The council are disgraceful in this matter, and I think should withdraw this injunction against Mrs Williams without delay. The EHDC disgust me.

Thank-you

I've stayed out of this thread until now, as I did not want to compromise my position as a Parish Councillor and a friend of Aneshka Williams.

Aneshka told me this morning that she is due to appear in Court next week. She's only been given 36 hours to prepare her appeal, so I've suggested she contacts the Clerk to the Court and asks for more time to prepare her appeal - as she can no longer afford expensive legal costs.

No reasonable Court will refuse her request.

There are a lot of legal issues involved which I'm not expert enough to comment on, but I do know that Aneshka will be heartbroken if she loses her stables and aviaries. There's also the issue of the welfare of her horses, dogs and birds. You can't easily move animals from their homes, especially when you consider that Aneshka has rescued many birds and dogs and brought them back to live healthy lives.

Let's hope commonsense does prevail.

As for EHDC, well I'm told that the lady official behind all this, Lesley Wells, has now left EHDC. Mmmmm.

Freddie

I agree with all said above.

Mrs Williams will be attending Aldershott County Court at 10:30 on Tuesday 21st December, not the Portsmouth Court that she was originaly informed of, but somewhere different, yet another misleading piece of information form the council!
What an excellent week to chose too for the hearing...Christmas week, how thoughtful of the Council!

I hope you will agree with me in wishing Mrs Williams the best of luck for Tuesday, and hope she wins her battle against the EHDC.

Regards

Rhys

Indeed, good luck to her. I am sure that the relatively small size of the thread belies the total suppport that the majority within the community wish to offer.

Agree with every poster on this thread. I admit I'am not up to speed with all the details on this case but it looks the usual Council ploy of using the perverbial sledge hammer to crack the nut.
As already stated surely the EHDC have more important issues in the community to address. I think Alex had it about right, they do it because they can.
Pathetic, petty, bureaucratic, faceless and overpaid collection of individuals who in the real world would never hold down a proper job.
Bang goes my planning application next year for an extension.
