VUVUZELAS
- Eneida (16th Jun 2010 - 09:13:12)
For those of you who enjoy watching the football World Cup...what's your opinion of these wretched instruments...I think they're an abomination and are spoiling my enjoyment. It's like having hundreds of hornets in the room!!
However one might be coming to a garden near you very soon...oh joy!! Apparently Sainsbury's are selling thousands of the darned things. Would you buy one??

I hate them!! It actually gave me a headache.. In the end I turned down the sound and just watched play.
As for people buying them - we had a very nice and considerate chap on Saturday night walking past our home at 2am blowing the darn thing. I was tempted to get up and shove it where the sun dont shine!
I like hearing the chants and songs - no chance now.

Now, don't get me wrong. I have no particular beef for the game of football, in fact what I know about the world game could be written on the back of a small stamp, but I would have thought that by now, one week into World Cup, one particular team or player might have emerged to capturedthe imagination of the audience.
Where are the sparkling performances from the multi million pound players, where are the unmissable set pieces creating opportunities and wrong footing the opposition. Where are the unforgettable scorching goals that dumbfound the goalies from forty yards out?
As far as I can see the only thing that has captured the imagination of the watching and listening public is a two foot six plastic trumpet played to excess.
Is this what we all bought wide screen HD televisions for?

Well Paul the players are all complaining they're having problems with the jubalanis, except Germany who've been using them for 6 months already...typical.
However, I think things will get better as they get used to them and Argentina have just scored 4 goals :(

Is it me or am I alone in thinking that this morning there is a sense of national disappointment when considering last night's England performance?
Listening to Radio Five Live this morning there was a palpable sense of shame both from their correspondents in South Africa and those left uncomfortably shuffling their feet back home in the studio.
Anyone care to speculate on what the England fan said to the team when he found his way into the player's changing room?
Still, all is not lost. Scotland's cricket match today might go some way to lifting spirits!
