petrol prices
- Karen (30th May 2010 - 00:23:12)

Just got back from Eastbourne where their Sainsburys petrol price was 113.99 for unleaded petrol !!! ( Needless to say we filled up ) How is it that the same shop can charge different prices for the same petrol ?

Hi Karen,
I would also like to know the answer to this question as it is the same price at Sainsbury's Farlington where I filled up last week. However, when I put this question to the girls on the til, informing them that Liphook Sainsbury's were charging £121.9 the response was, "well you can afford it up there" !!. I understood that if a retailer was selling a product the price would be the same no matter which store you purchased it from.

if you go to shottermill is is £107.9, check local area

www.whatgas.com

[editor - that price was last updated on the 27th october 2009 - I'm not sure it can be trusted - www.petrolprices.com reports 120.3p as cheapest at Royal Parade, Hindhead]

Just rung customer services,0800 636 262,they said they would look into it,if your not doing anything, get on the the phone, and have a moan, after all Sainsburys do not seem that popular at the moment in the village.

If you want to fill up and still get your nectar points....

I went to Forest Lodge (on the Bird World Road) and the BP station next to LMC was selling diesel at 120p.

I didn't notice how much petrol was though. Sorry.

At Watchmoor Park Sainsburys,Camberley, petrol today is £119.99 per litre.
Diesel £121.99...a noticeable difference in prices indeed!

Just filled up in our Sainsburys(120.99 today unleaded) and asked why there is such a big difference in prices i.e Eastbourne and Liphook. The reply was "there is no competition " Looks as if they can charge what they like, within reason of course.!!

As I said on this site some time ago when this subject came up, the cheapest fuel I had noted was in Bolton where the Sainsburys was slap opposite a Tesco and each of them strove to be the cheapest.

We in Liphook do not have any viable competition so we pay the price that Sainsburys feel they can get away with. The Tesco stores in Whitehill and Weyhill do not have a petrol station.

What say we vote for a Tesco on the vacant site between Sainsbury's and the Beaver Estate and let market forces apply?

Hear ,hear, a bit of competition never hurt anyone.
I`m still waiting for your petrol prices to come down Sainsburys !!!!!
