What's new at the Green Dragon?
- Andy (17th Jun 2016 - 15:16:03)

Hi, Andy and Teo here from the Green Dragon, some of you will have heard that Dave, our previous landlord has left The Green Dragon. While this is true - Dave has now happily gone in to retirement - The Green Dragon is still being run by us, under new owners, Mehmet and Nui.

The Green Dragon is now serving a selection of authentic, handmade Thai dishes. Nui, our new head chef, has a long and distinguished background in Thai cooking, and she has worked for a dazzling array of employers, including the Hard Rock Cafe in Bangkok, as well as several five-star hotels in the Thai capital. Nui and her husband Mehmet have previously owned a Thai takeaway in Bordon, yet are now looking more into the pub industry.

We will still remain a traditional English pub, with Andy looking after our ales and the cellar, and traditional English dishes (including our well loved Sunday roasts) will still be a predominant part of our menu, yet we are now spicing things up with a selection of Thai specials. We are also looking into installing a sound system, as per popular demand, to play a bit of music in the bar area (nothing too loud or rowdy!).

On a similar note, our policies and events are still the same. We still have a "no kids under 10" rule in place, and our popular Quiz Night is still taking place every Wednesday from 8 pm, with Jacqui as the quiz mistress. The management team remains the same (Andy and Teo) and they will make sure that the standards that The Green Dragon has set since January will be kept in place.

So pop in for a pint or two, or a bit of Thai food and come see what has and hasn't changed!

Cheers!

Looking forward to visiting, are you going to update your website, as would be interesting to see what you menu would be. Hope it is a success.

Hi, thanks for the comments, and I'm glad you enjoyed the curry!

We will eventually be updating the website menu, but during this period of transition the menu is an ever changing beast. The menu we are currently rolling is:

Thai specials:

Thai prawn crackers £1.95
Vegetable spring rolls with dip £3.95
Duck spring rolls with dip £4.95
Chicken and prawn toast £4.50
Mixed starters (crackers, x2 prawn toast, x2 vegetable spring rolls) £6.50

Special hand made Thai main courses:
Massaman curry with Thai jasmine rice - beef or chicken £8.95
Vegetarian Pad Thai £7.50
King prawn Pad Thai £8.50
Thai green curry with Thai jasmine rice - king prawn or chicken £8.95

The English menu remains much the same, with some new specials, such as pork belly, stilton stuffed mushroom, plus several more, again these are ever changing.

I hope this helps, and hope to see you soon!

Went to the Green Dragon last evening for a meal. Had one of the Thai dishes off the menu - it was delicious! I can thoroughly recommend eating off either the Thai or English menu at this pub.

It was lovely to see Andy and Teo still there to serve and greet at the bar, providing their usual friendly and expert service.

Good luck and best wishes to you all under the new management. We will be back!

Enjoyed king prawn pad Thai with friends at the weekend, glad to see Andy and Teo still on board. Good food, same chilled vibe that has been established. We will be back!

Never having been to the Green Dragon before I have visited it twice recently.
On both occasions the weather was sunny and we sat outside. The food was good, but may I suggest consideration be given to screening the outside eating area from the car park with some attractive wooden trellis. This would greatly add to the enjoyment of eating outside.

Hi I was just wondering is the green dragon going to do Thai takeaway? We used to use Thai cottage regularly and wonder if it was going to continue take aways here. I think it would do well as there is no Thai place nearby

Do you have any Gluten free options on the menu?
