GITG - 7th August 2010
- Ben Lawrance (20th May 2010 - 18:41:40)

Hi All,

I thought i'd update you all with the latest news about Gig In The Garden.

The event will be taking place at The Royal Anchor, on Saturday 7th August 2010 from 6pm.

5 bands will be taking the stage this year, including one of ITV's Pop Idols, and finishing up with The Strolling Players as our headliners.

Entry this year will be charged at £5 for an entry wristband (or £7 on the door) and can be obtained from The Royal Anchor, or direct from me.

Our chosen cause this year will be the Liphook Carnival Fund. I'm sure you'll all agree that Karen and her team put so much effort in to make it happen each year, so we decided that we should help out.

All the news and gossip gets updated on www.gitg.org and we look forward to seeing you on 7th August.

If anyone has any views or comments, please do not hesitate to post them here, or contact me directly on info@gitg.org.

Kind Regards
Ben Lawrance

Quick update...............

Ticket / wristband sales are looking OK. - ONLY £5!!!

I will be announcing the finalised line up any day now.

If you are thinking about coming this year, i advise to definately get your wristbands sooner rather than later, and definately before the night (for the £2 saving)

Wristbands are available from behind the bar at The Anchor, the Chip Shop on the Headley Road, and direct from me.

I can be contacted on 07790 264316 or info(at)gitg.org

The website is being updated as we speak. www.giginthegarden.com / www.gitg.org

Cheers
Ben

We are most grateful to Ben for allowing the money collected at this year's GITG to go to the Carnival Committee. However, we are a bit short on money collectors! We need to find some volunteers to help us collect in our tins, is anyone going who would be happy to help us. Please give me a call on 01428 723971

Many thanks

The Liphook Carnival and the charities it supports are the beneficiaries of this year's Gig in the Garden at the Royal Anchor and so some committee members including myself went along to collect contributions from the crowd.

Entrance to this year's Gig was by ticket only as the event's main sponsor had decided not to support it. On arrival, we found that the organizer, Ben Lawrence, needed someone to sell tickets at the door and so that duty fell to us. Some people were surprised to find that they had to pay as the event had previously been free. However, they paid the £7 charge and we would like to pay tribute to the hundreds of young people from Liphook and around who were invariably polite, friendly and cheerful.

The only sour notes came from a man in late middle age who demanded free access to 'his local' and from an EHDC official with a decibel meter who required that the volume be turned down.

The overwhelming majority of our young people are a credit to Liphook and they showed good sense and generosity.

We must also thank Ben for organizing a well run event for which he gave up a great amount of his own time and for lending his support to the Carnival.
