Standards of local journalism
- Dawn Hoskins (28th Apr 2010 - 10:38:24)

Having recovered from the biased and incredibly one-sided reporting of the recent parish council / parish clerk debacle - I didn't think the local paper could get any worse!!

I have just met with Eve Hope, whose husband has very recently died as most of you will know, to find her in a state of upset and shock. An article has been printed about the courageous son of Mr Pope who is cycling from Lands End to raise money for charity - and then goes on to Mix both families together in the biggest knife and fork job I have ever seen!

Do these people not have the brains that God gave them?

FYI I have received an email from the Herald and it was a change done by someone not knowing the full story, there should be an apology in this weeks paper.

I also was shocked to read the report in last weeks Liphook Herald.
I feel that a as well as an apology a large donation to the bike ride [Lands end to John O'Groats] would be appropiate.

A similar thing happened to me, and I had an apology printed after I pointed it out --I think a gesture of a phone call to Mrs Hope or flowers would be in order. A bereavement is very stressful to deal with and to read that she had supposedly remarried in the space of a few months was awful for her, as well as gaining an extra son!

I have forwarded this thread to the editor of the Herald, we now await his response.

No apology to Eve Hope yet?
Disgraceful...
