Running routes around Liphook
- Claire (12th Apr 2016 - 15:09:06)
I'm hitting a mid-life crisis and planning to start running this week (complete novice) and would love any recommendations for good easy routes around Liphook to get me started. I see many people pass my house on Longmoor rd and I'm often intrigued to know where they are running to and from unless its to Starbucks!
Many thanks
Claire

How far are you wanting to run and do you want to use footpaths or just along the pavements?

Hi Claire
I've recently got back into running/jogging/walking fast, now it's a little warmer and lighter in the mornings.
I run before work, around 6am and prefer to stay on the pavements around the village but at weekends, I prefer Weavers Down and Longmoor Ranges.
If you look up routes that people have created on websites such as Runkeeper and MapMyRun, so you can see where people are running.
Good luck
Elliott

Sorry can't help with routes but I'm also interested in taking up running but don't like the idea of going out running by myself. Don't suppose you want a running companion?

I'm up for a mixture but wanting to start from nothing to 5k runs so anything that can build my confidence would be great. Thanks.

There's plenty of offroad at the back of Old Thorns. Better on the joints than pavement and you can always stop for a drink at The Deers Hut to reward yourself.
I'm currently walking my running route as 35 weeks pregnant, such a lovely area on the doorstep.
It's called Weavers Down. Might find some routes people have plotted on WalkJogRun.
Hope you get out there, perfect time of year. Just getting the weather for it.

I can't recommend www.parkrun.org.uk enough your nearest run is aliceholt but there are many more, it's an entirely free timed 5k for all abilities and I mean ALL ability's every Saturday morning at 9am. Accepted you might want to run further but if your that fast you can hit the 20mins times with the fastest or ease back with the 35-45mins tail end. Either way it's much more motivating than running by yourself and a good friendly event, aliceholt has 200 plus runners every week

I started on this app. Having just retired, I wanted to get fit again, it starts you off on a very gentle training course. Not having run for a long, long time. I was a bit apprehensive, but it seems to work, I jog and walk to the apps. timing with my dog. So it's worth a try.
