Liphook Calendar ?
- Steve Read (3rd Apr 2010 - 09:14:14)
Just a thought, how about putting together a Liphook Calendar?
Any ideas from anybody.
Not even sure if it already exists.
Photos included say of June (LIBDA Bike Ride) October (Carnival) plus which ever month Liphook looks at its best with Liphook In Bloom (sorry not a gardner). Any good photos available of the recent snow etc.
Anybody in the printing trade that could help out, or any recommendations.
Keep overheads as low as possible.
Any retail outlets willing to sell them etc.
Any budding photographers out there.
Over 7000 residents, if you sold a good percentage of that at whatever price a decent calendar goes for etc.
Possible sponsorship from local businesses on each page.
After running costs all profits to go towards local facilities (play area etc).
I don’t know just a suggestion, maybe the new business forum to get involved. Would be willing to help out or assist in setting up if enough people interested.
I’m sure money could be raised for a good local cause, again any suggestions or not as the case maybe.
Regards
Steve

Crikey Steve, had the same thought myself about three days ago. Was thinking it might be a novel and amusing way of raising funds to put on the Carnival. Perhaps I should investigate further, I obviously want to be Miss June!!!

Karen,
I was thinking about Mr.August, trouble is they are still trying to locate a wide enough lens!
On a serious note if Mrs June would like to get together with Mr August to maybe get some ideas going let me know. I appreciate you do an awful lot with the Carnival or we wait and see if others are keen to get involved.
Michael,
Not sure how many 'old boys' are still around that was 45 years ago for me, blimey!
Regards
Steve

The Grayshott Calendar...well goodness me isn't all that wobbly and rather unsavoury looking flesh a little bit 'passe' now or to put it in English , just past it??
What about doing something original and more tasteful...like a calendar full of lovely Liphook pets....gorgeous pussies, handsome dogs, cuddly rabbits etc....people always like pictures of attractive animals and as far as I know, there aren't any PC laws about publishing their photos and names....you could involve children in taking the photos as a competition....just an idea :)

Hi Steve,
Would be more than happy to get together to discuss further, would bring along a few fellow Carnival folk (Mr February and Mrs October) - can feel a pub meeting coming on!!

My late Dad went to Bramshott School, he would of been 93years old this year, but he would of been game to be Mr August, but he would not need a wide lens, he was 6' 3" tall, so a lens to cover his height would have been best.
Great idea!! I look forward to it being published, i'll buy one.

Hi Steve
My time at Bramshott School was 56yrs ago O my God. There are still a lot of us around and some that actually ended their schooling at Bramshott. I think it is a great idea. If you or Karen get it off the ground count me in. How about a month with the girls who spent their whole school life 5-15yrs at the old Liphook School( now the library). Lots of possibilities!
Fantastic post on the Bohunt Manor scheme! You said what 98% of the community think. Well done you and Micheal.

One of our relatives had a village calendar where they got all the local service / tradespeople to display their 'wares' - eg the local plumber, firemen (go on, Mick!), car mechanic (yo, Andy!), postmen (yes, Jamie!), builders, shopkeepers etc etc - that way they also got a little advertising (eg a logo) on the page as well, and they would certainly then be recognised out and about after that!
Everyone in that village bought one and the plumber certainly got a few more customers as a result....
Something for the new Liphook Business Initiative maybe?

Hi
Just to make you aware, the LBI know about this idea.
It is a great place to air views, and please either use this site for further ideas for business, community and charity. There is usually a direct link to the LBI on the left hand side of your talkback pages (missing today?), where any one can use our web site to seek information, and make comments and share ideas like this one direct - if you would prefer your ideas not to be so public.
We are all seeking one aim, this group is here to help.

Hello folks from LBI. My idea for calendar had been as a celebration of all the groups and organisations that benefit from the Carnival - LIB, Guides, Scouts, Village Hall Committee etc to come together to help us to help them. We are going to be in real trouble this year if we don't think of other ways to raise at least £8,000 to fund the Carnival. This was one of the ways I had throught we could have had fun and raised money, no nudity was going to be involved and yes, probably would have approached a few local companies to help with photography, printing etc, but don't want to step on your toes if you have already put the wheels in motion to produce something.
With my husband now back in the UK after a stint working in Jersey I do plan to come to next LBI meeting to see if I can get involved.
Regards
Karen

Hi Karen
I can confirm that the LBI have not set anything in motion - things just do not happen that fast!. If you have designs etc then go for it!
It would be good to see you at any meeting for the LBI, it has always been our aim to help business and community.
If you would like to attend the next meeting, and perhaps ask for an opportunity to talk about the carnival/fund raising, then please make your request via the web site (link shown under 'community listings).
Will enjoy seeing the calander - and as its a business/retail group - you will find people willing to sell them for you too!
Best regards
LBI
