Country Market fire
- Jon (31st Mar 2010 - 20:29:37)
Sad to hear that the country market at Bordon burnt down early this morning(Wednesday). Apparently only one person had to be treated for breathing in smoke.Does anyone know if any animals were affected in the pet centre there.

From what I have read, some of the animals were saved from Pampered Pets, not heard anything about the fish. I guess a little harder to save.
Lets hope it is rebuilt

Yes, I heard the furry & feathered pets were saved. It's such a shame, after all the recent expansion. The owners & traders must be devastated. I also hope they will rebuild.

This article says firemen managed to rescue some of the small animals.
www.easthampshire.org/newsdetail/..
I went to country market after work yesterday and whilst I was there, they were taking out the fish to be relocated, the policeman on the scene told me all the fish had survived.
I read on a practical fish keeping forum this morning that Maidenhead Aquatics are saying nearly all the fish survived.

I was so sorry to hear about Country Market being destroyed....I was looking forward to going there soon to buy loads of spring flowers etc.
I've also just read in the Herald that ALL the poor animals died in the fire, although posters here are saying they didn't...I wonder which is true?

Yes.. i read in the Liphook Herald that some of the animals died, and claimed the lives of 15,000 tropical fish..
The owner Peter Marshall was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation after trying to tackle the fire..

I doubt someone burned it down, fires can start in barns easily though electrical faults which it probably was and its all wood so it will burn easily on the country market site it says they managed to save the fish not sure about the furries but their tractor Fergie was destroyed aswell :(
