police presence at Carnival
- tracey h (3rd Nov 2004 - 14:52:14)

I am going to post this in the knowledge that there will be a number of sarcastic responses, but I feel strongly enough to air my disappointment.

The police followed up behind the procession on Saturday night in a couple of vehicles through the Square. We had all enjoyed a fantastic show of floats and general bonhomie which I think makes Liphook a great place to live. However, as the police passed by, a number of people lining the Square very audibly started to boo, and shouted at them to F*** off through their open windows.

I felt thoroughly ashamed of my fellow onlookers; it really spoilt the end of the evening. I just hope that they (and I am sure they know who they are) came from outside the village and are not part of our community.

That is shameful but no real suprise.

Police are evicting people from their houses in Liphook for Social Disorders under that new legislation as reported on South Today, burglaries seem to be on the rise, fights and general disorders happen frequently round the once beautiful now wrecked Anchor pub. It's not suprising this little town is turning into a hole.

It's all very disappointing, I have lived here all my live and am hoping to move away from Liphook when circumstances allow.

Can't say that it ;s too much of a surprise. Sometimes i think we should line people up to go on Trisha...

You think it is bad because it has changed in all of the time that you have lived here?
There is a less savoury element wherever you live as a rule.

Problem is that 'they' are able to get away with more now and push the limits further.
Police it would seem are unwilling/not able to step in and overstretched.
The police do a good job but 'they' seem to grow in numbers.

This is disappointing news to me as I only moved to Liphook this summer.
