Conford Downs Family Theme Park
- Sasha Gregory (31st Oct 2004 - 16:00:56)
The Tussauds group have put in an application to buy the right to build a theme park on the vast area of land that is Conford Moor. We cannot let this happen as it would not only make the village congested with all the cars traveling to the theme park. It would also ruin a site of great beauty and create noise and pollution.
I for one would be willing to stand on the moor and not allow them to build on it. (if it comes to that)
What are peoples thoughts?

Perhaps if we had a professionally run theme park near here there would be no need to change the Liphook village green into the Liphook village brown on carnival night.
Keeping children amused, yet safe, becomes more challenging year by year. Exploritary play that I, and many others of my age, indulged in as children is now completely taboo so parents need places to entertain their children.
I love a good walk in the countryside but, honestly, how many times in the last month have you done it? It has been just too wet to enjoy it.
I, genuinely, would prefer something more educational than a theme park, but a theme park might be better than nothing and it might give some of our children somewhere locally to work.

Great Craic but I can't see it happening as this is National Trust land plus there isn't enough actual land to build a park (even though the moor is big) and all that goes with it (parking etc.).

...I'm sure that this is a wind-up...
Sascha, please advise where you heard this from. If you do not reply then we have to assume that it is a hoax.

I can assure you Chris, (if that is your real name) that this is no wind up, the tussauds group (who also own parks such as Alton Towers and Thorpe Park) have applied for planning permission to start work in 2010. In regards to peoples comments, they are going to build several flat rides and a Compact Vecoma Inverted SLC(suspended looping rollercoaster) along with several dark, water and childrens rides (please see a site such as www.rcdb.com to see the design of a vekoma SLC type this into the search on the site). As you can see, it is a huge, awfull noisy piece of metal that will ruin this piece of land, which the national trust are selling to gain much needed funds. We must stop this park from being built. Any ideas for a kind of formal protest?
You can email tussauds I suppose to get a website for this project.

Maybe we should ask Mr.Rory Addleslop, the retired Theme Park Director.
