Commute to Waterloo
- Stuart (21st Feb 2010 - 12:14:47)

I wondered if I can tap into some local knowledge. I'm hoping to move to Liphook to be nearer family (although they do not live in the immediate vicinity). However, I will still need to commute to Waterloo for work. Does anyone else have experience of this journey? Are the direct trains reliable? Is it possible to get a seat (on the 0727, for example)? Is it possible to park at Lipkook? Any tips? Many thanks.

I get the 727 and about 99% of the time you get a seat, SWT do shorten the train from time to time which is a pain but you have a few options to get round that.

Coming home is ok there is a slow train waiting at Haselmere unless you get the 6:15 out of London which is a good train to get.

The journey can be long if you have a underground trip the other end but you soon get use to it

Parking is OK at Liphook and the station staff are pretty good.
Because of the more frequent 'through service' it is generally better to travel to (and park at) Haslemere. You can wait at Haslemere for 15 minutes or more for the fast train to come past- then you get a 5 minute journey to Liphook at the end of it.
