Road Works
- Mark (26th Oct 2004 - 16:00:30)
Now, I am not sure as to who makes decisions on where and when road works are scheduled, I feel it must be the same person who organised the Liphook pinch points, the one’s that all had to be moved because they were in the wrong places… never mind it’s only money.
But when approached to as whether, having road works in the middle of the square on carnival night seemed a bad idea, alarm bells should have rang, perhaps?
Kind Regards
Mark

Just what we needed another crossing constructed lets say all of 15yds away from the existing one.
Will it stop people just walking out acrooss the other paved area? No of course it won't.
With enough chaos in the centre now with the mini roundabouts, pavements wider than the road, people parking outside the chemists or on the pavement outside the Nationwide someone thinks to themself, "I know what I can do to all them nasty car owners we will build another crossing, and to make it really good we will put it right by the mini roundabout to save people walking to the other crossing the other side of the roundabout, and cause more congestion back down the Haslemere Road."
What about crossings down by the schools? no forget that its more important to squeeze in a bit more in the square. Like you said Mark, who decides and more to the point who gets paid to submit and pass these schemes. They probably wear a helmet 2 sizes to large, anorak with a dayglow band, bike clips (on both legs)
trailor hooked on the back with one of them red lolypops forcing you out about 6 feet to clear them and a save the whales sticker pinned on the rear of the trailor.

We need barriers by lloyds to stop people just walking off the pavement in front our cars who drivers are trying to watch which side of the mini roundabout cards are going around.
Why can they not walk 5 feet further and use the zebra crossing.
IT will br great stop at the zebra crossing , stop at the roundabout stop at the next crossing block the roundabout while people cross.
Has any one in the planning office got some common sense ???
I think not.....
Or are they trying to make the square a car free zone ??
It would not surprise me in this anti motorist climate.

I am a retired planning commisioner and the problems in the square are yes, caused by over conjestion. And my former colleagues do have sense it's just you cannot fit many cars into a space the size of the square. I am told that a project named code UNA is underway to relieve Liphook of conjestion on the roads.
And by the way. if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all.

Thanking Mr.Addleslop for his comments I think we are all aware that over congestion causes the problem in the Square.
Everybody is also aware that like it or not traffic will continue to increase, but in Liphook we had the Village Enhancement Scheme which gave us wider pavements,
flower beds, mini roundabouts, undetermined crossing areas, a 3 car parking bay (sometimes 4 including the pavement) and now another crossing point within spitting distance of the old one. It all might look very pretty to some but its not exactly helping the traffic flow.
Face facts Liphook is more congested now than ever, why? Every blade of grass is being developed for more and more houses without no thought for the infrastructure to support it, who oversees all this in the planning stage and ultimately passes these schemes?
You have got it one!
Now you tell us Project UNA is underway, can't wait for that one to appear, what is it? Underneath The Anchor.

Could Mr. Addleslop (strange name) the 'retired vet', be involved in planning the proposed Family Theme Park??
Just a thought....

I think (hope) that the theme park proposal is as fictional as project "UNA". Who'd put a theme park half a mile from a military firing range?

Anythings possible though.
I'd like to see the details or where the information came from. The lady does seem quite sure of her facts.

Interesting thought that maybe MoD's behind this idea: wait till a kid say in a red scarf or whatever (to make it more challenging) comes over the top of the rollercoaster and pick them off with a sniper bullet to the head. More fun than firing at cardboard cutouts popping up on the range.
Does the NT own the bit between the sharp right hand bend on the Headley Road and Conford itself? Who owns that big house up there? All very secretive ...

The land is owned by Conford Park house (I think) and this in turn is owned by Rory Addleslop the retired Vet, theme park builder and commissioner. Rory is also acting Commander in Chief (retired) representing the MOD who are planning to build a new Salisbury plane style military assault course in Radford Park.

Everyone -
The road works, the street signs, the road markings, the crossings etc etc are all the responsibility of Hampshire County Council (HQ is Winchester). They are the Highways Authority.
The Parish Council (which I am a member of) has a small amount of input on what happens - but most of the time we are not kept fully informed.

Was the road works in question supposed to give rise to a crossing? If so, I see no evidence of one.

As I have said once before the project coded UNA is underway and will soon rid the square of any conjestiion - nobody is supposed to know about this so please stop with the harsh comments, the slander and any unjust remarks about this project.
Remember we are trying to make Liphook a better place for everyone.

''UNA'' seems to be a mysterious, non-existing plan that is quite frankly a lot of bull s***. If ''UNA'' is underway, what is there to prove this?

SIT BACK, HOLD TIGHT, AND PREPARE FOR UNA, SHE IS NEARLY HERE!
shhh but nobody is meant to know about it!
Thankyou undercover agent 008 Addleslop (Retired).
Keep communications to a minimum you never know who could be listening.
Over and out.
