So ... another utility failure in Liphook, this time water.
Sigh.
I would compare this state of affairs to various third-world countries, but they are normally bankrupt, run by mad governments and dictators, controlling of the population and .... oh. Ahem.
Maybe WE are the third-world country then!
I don't care if the whole A3 has to be dug up, just fix it ... !

At approximately 4pm on Sunday, 7 February, South East Water started receiving calls about a burst water main on the A3/B3006. This is a large 12” main which supplies water to the Greatham, Liss and Liphook area. Our Technician arrived on site at 4.30pm and started the process to close valves and isolate the section of burst main, while our contractor team was mobilised to start repairs. The section of main was isolated and water supplies were restored to affected properties at 20.15pm (although five properties close to the burst remained without water so we supplied bottled water to them). Repairs on the damaged section of main were completed this morning (Monday 8 February) but as there is considerable damage caused to the B3006 highway itself, the section of road is closed and a temporary diversion is currently in place.
In addition to this incident, there was a further reported burst in Forest Corner, Liss, when a 6” main burst at around 9.30pm. Again, the main was shut down for approximately four hours (from 22.15 – 02.00). A number of properties were affected by this separate failure as well as the 12” main failure.
We would like to give our apologies for the disruption caused due to these emergency incidents and thank all those customers affected for their patience while we worked to restore their water supplies in the area.
We are also reviewing our customer communication processes to see what improvements can be made to those channels (telephones, website, social media) to communicate emergency incidents, to determine which are the most useful, and accessible, for our 2.1 million customers across the south east.

If anyone wants further information on this outtage, why it happened, what they're doing, SE Water and it's history, how to change to another supplier and what Paul Butler SEW MD is doing about it, then I'm your man. Anyone on Twitter (it's free) should search on #southeastwater where you will see the whole sorry saga laid out. SEW needs much better customer updates when interruptions happen. It currently thinks that this was restricted to five houses. So if you were effected, please let me know.
Cheers
Chris

Change to another supplier? I don't think so! Not yet anyway.

Is this why there is water all over the road outside the Renault garage? Or is this a separate issue?

I would hazard a guess its a seperate issue.

I understood the actual location of the problem is near the Ham Barn roundabout (Liss) on the Selbourne Road, which now has to have major road repairs (.A3/B3006) as quoted above by water board
Seems a long way from Haslemere Road residents?
