Dog P**
- Will Hopes (11th Oct 2004 - 09:51:18)

I am shocked at the amount of poo on the roads, at the last count I counted 14 in one road! This is a disgrace, I understand the dog doo doo bins are an eye sore but they are there for a reason! I have a dog, whom I am very fond of - Archie. And he appreciates it that I clear up after him. So save the soles of your shoes and lets tackle THE POO PROBLEM!

Which road are you talking about? Some of the streets in Liphook accomodate some many pikeys that you could be mistaken that its not the dogs to blame :)

- S (11th Oct 2004 - 11:33:27)

What the pikeys do it? There should be laws against people using the public paths to do that.

It is NEVER the dog's fault that Poo remains on the pavement.

- Dan (12th Oct 2004 - 22:24:04)

i fully agree with Will, however it is not the fault of the dog, but perhaps repeat offenders should be corked up? or perhaps the dogs owner should be corked up, (depending on the source), i am constantly shocked when a friend of mine lets her Dog, (Paddy) go straight on the road, and have to remind her to remove it. Use the bins!

There must be a "no pooping on the street" by-law or something surely? Not that i'm going to spend any time on looking it up. Our dog just somehow knows when it is amazingly inconvenient and takes revenge for all those days that i previous forgot...

I think it would be a good idea to get all the dogs to poo in the holes created by Morrisons down the Headley Road. Afetr all, they have left us in the s*@~ day in day out, lets see how they like it...!!!

It's Mike Grimes' fault for the amount of dog poo on Liphook's streets nowadays - all he has to do is cough and it's on the pavement

Lenny,

Noticed every comment you have put in the last few threads seems to be about Mike Grimes - now i have no idea who the guy is but i am not sure how the comments are helpful or productive to this site.

all dogs do poo on the pavement. its a fact! its just the owners dont see it or pretend not to see it. you could write to the concell and get them to install CCTV on every coner or you can just ecept it. we live in the country side!!! people wouldnt complain if a fox did it so why a dog???

Re: Dog P**
- Alex Smith (23rd Nov 2004 - 20:36:46)

Since Radford park has lost its 'care takers' has anyone else noticed that the dog poo bins are not emptied as frequently and most of the time are overflowing with up to 20 (no i guessed, i did not stand their counting) waste bags on the floor, smelling and rottomg.

bring back the people who looked after the park, give them their place in the community back, none of this contracts with un-caring businesses shouold be used.

At last someone with a decent idea that could actually help the community.

Many thanks to alex Smith.

Re: Dog P**
- Alex Cameron (24th Nov 2004 - 22:19:42)

I'm surprised the local authorities haven't started handing out corks to plug up our little pooch's bottoms ;) Those bags are an eyesore so say the least - i'd like to take bets on how long it will be before Radford gets carved up and sold to developers. But naturally that happens very slowly as erosion is much more preferable to a direct sale.

So Alex Smith, other than being a functional illiterate, your chosen expert subject is sh*t, eh? You couldn't make it up...

Re: barking dogs
- Thatch (29th Nov 2004 - 12:38:29)

Anyone out there had a problem with neighbours allowing their dogs to bark persistently.

Re: Dog P**
- Alex Cameron (3rd Dec 2004 - 12:53:48)

Thatch - this isn't levelled solely at you, but others who do it too. What you've written is a question, not a statement of fact, so it needs to end in a question mark....

aaaaaarrrrrggghhhh

This is a serious matter and I agree with Alex Smith. I heard about the loss of care takers in Radford Park, and think it was a irresponsible move.

- Freddie Dawkins (16th Dec 2004 - 11:33:51)

Hello, All -

Couple of points:

1. Alex, don't worry. The Parish Council manages Radford Park. Me, you, everyone who lives in this Parish, owns the Park. It's a public amenity, owned by the public and no-one is going to sell it, bit by bit or in any other way. It's safe.

2. Generally about dog poo (or is it pooh?). I have two large dogs. We've always had dogs of one shape or another. I never take them to Radford Park, the Recreation Ground or the Village Green, but when I do walk through the areas, I occassionally see people exercising their dogs. Generally people seem to be pretty good at clearing up after their dogs. It's no big deal to have a couple of plastic bags and some tissue in your pocket.

What we are touching on here is civic pride. I don't drop litter, and I'm sure you don't. When I see stuff on the floor I pick it up and put it in the nearest bin. Unfortunately there are always going to be some people in any community who don't know what civic pride is. All we can do is encourage groups like Liphook in Bloom etc. These groups all work entirely unpaid to make this Parish a nicer, better-looking place to live. I'd like to see more people getting involved and giving something back to their community. It doesn't take much - as long as enough people volunteer.

This Parish has a great history of volunteers and community spirit. Though the village itself has grown rapdily, core groups have continued to contribute and flourish but we do all need to make a commitment of even just one hour a month to help one of the volunteer groups - and also not pass by the next carrier bag we see blowing along the pavement.

And to end or a lighter note: I've still got that green wheelie bin I rescued from outside Eneida's!! If anyone wants a free wheelie bin, give me a call on 07769 665 963 - I'll deliver for free!

rgds to all here

Freddie
