EHDC snow updates
- Sumi Olson (8th Jan 2010 - 19:04:40)

"Biggest snowfall for years hits East Hampshire ..Keep an eye on this page for [Council] updates"

East Hampshire District Council is resuming waste collections today [Monday 11th] - but will only be collecting refuse from green bins.

Houses in the north of the district that did not get their refuse collected last week are now being prioritised. The majority of EHDC's collection crews are back on the road and will be working hard to catch up on work missed due to the heavy snow and icy roads.

No recycling collections (black bins) from last week or this week will be made until further notice, as we are operating with reduced resources at present. Residents are being asked to put their green refuse bin out for collection, even if they are scheduled for a recycling collection this week. Garden waste, kerbside glass and bulky waste collections have also been temporarily suspended. Overdue clinical waste will be collected as soon as possible, so please leave bags and boxes out.

Will extra balck bin bags be collected if we put them out as we haven`t had the green wheelies emptied this year yet.I hope so.

Hi Karen,
Yes, they said all rubbish will be collected as long as put neatly beside the wheelie. Malthouse Meadows collection was this morning and they took everything. Must say, don't envy them their job as the men were sliding around the ice. Can understand why it wasn't collected earlier...

I've been reading the link to EHDC rubbish collection updates...but am still unclear which bin is supposed to be put out for Friday morning.

Does anybody living in the Headley Road know??

Eneida

PS They're (BBC) forecasting snow tomorrow :(

Im assuming black bins as they emptied green ones last week... I live on Headley Road and that is the option Im going for... unless anyone knows different?

If you follow the link below it will take you to a EHDC page and half way down on the right hand side is somewhere where you put in your post code and it tells you what collections are now to take place. They are still doing catch up in some areas.

www.easthants.gov.uk

I put mine in and got:

Refuse Friday 22 Jan 2010
Recycling Friday 29 Jan 2010
Glass Friday 29 Jan 2010

It appears that it is green bins to be collected on Thursday 21st and then it is back to the normal collection calender.

Yes...thanks Nicola!!

Apparently it's green bins again for Headley Road, which was done last week and is half empy...I shall have to find some more rubbish to put in it to get my money's worth....
