Lap top mystery! Help!
- Paul E (1st Aug 2015 - 09:40:33)

I was using my lap top yesterday without any problem.
This morning I seem to have been got at at by what seems to be an alien search engine called BING. Where it came from overnight I don't know, but can anybody explain in simple terms - I'm not very clever with technicalities - how to get rid of it, please.

It is a toolbar you have inadvertently downloaded. You will have to uninstall it from your list of programmes it will come up probably in date order. You probably clicked onto an advert or webpage without realising.

I do know the the new Microsoft 10 now uses bing instead of internet explorer so if you've upgraded it could be that.

Hi, my husband uses Bing for his search engine in preference to Google because they pay their taxes in this country whereas Google DON`T! We do not use Amazon or go to starbucks for the same reasons, Bing is not malware, it`s safe, and I can assure you hubby is paranoid about internet security.

Bing is owned by Microsoft who have similar corporate tax arrangements as Google (but not identical). Eg. They put stuff through Dublin as corporate tax rates are reduced for over there, but the VAT rate is higher

Others that have similar practices include Amazon, Starbucks, Apple and Ebay (this list is not comprehensive)
