South West Trains - Mark (20th Jul 2015 - 20:47:11) I would love to know the answer to a question. Unlike most I think SWT generally provide a good punctual service from Liphook to London and back. however when it goes wrong you wonder how they ever got a mandate. Terrible communication, staff who just get angry and seemingly no plans in place and absolutely no care for getting people home. On two occasions when trains are cancelled or delayed I have seen guards take the decision to stop at Liphook and Liss as extra stops. Once because there were no more trains behind or in front and because loads of passengers were begging the guard, on another occasion when a well dressed gentleman said to the guard "you know I am on the board at SWT and I request you make extra stops". On both occasions it happened very easily. On other occasions the guard has simply said it is impossible for extra stops to be taken and just left loads of people at Haslemere or Guildford with nowhere to go quickly. They said the fast service could not be changed. I know it's only an expensive taxi ride away but I just wonder why do the guards sometimes help and sometimes say it's impossible? SWT will not comment.

Re: South West Trains - liz (21st Jul 2015 - 08:52:33) Because the guards do not make the decision. They have to get permission from the controllers - whose decisions can be a bit random.
