Headley Mill
- James (20th Jul 2015 - 18:01:38)

Does anyone know the current state of Headley Mill? Is it still in business? There seems to be no sign of activity there nowadays and the yard is getting overgrown.
We used to buy stoneground flour from the mill shop but it's been years since that was open.
It would be a great shame if this ancient mill were to stop working. I believe it is mentioned in the Domesday Book.

Thanks for your worthless sarcasm. I was a regular customer of the shop for many years but the mill produced mainly animal feeds for farmers for which I had no need.

I think the mill is still owned by the same family, some work has been done to it and the geese appear looked after but otherwise it does not appear to be used.

I worked at Headley Mill from 1963 to 1965. Richard Ellis, son of John Ellis, now lives in the cottage attached to the Mill. If you Google Richard Ellis you will find a lot of information about him.
