Wren kitchens?
- liz (10th Jul 2015 - 10:48:07)
We are looking for a new kitchen. We were quite impressed with Wren kitchens showroom in Guildford and their pricing seems very competitive. Has anyone had any dealings with them?

Not had any dealings with them, but they were on Watchdog a while ago:

Probably depends on the sub-contractors they're using though, so maybe the Guildford store is fine...

Hi we had a wren kitchen fitted last October.
We used Portsmouth store. I did enquire at Guildford but found them unhelpful.
We had a finance plan set up. The week before our installation date was due in September ( original installation date) we had a phone call demanding payment in full or we could not have kitchen installed.
The woman dealing with us was Ukrainian. She did not fill out paperwork correctly.
We had to rearrange time off and installation dates where changed as she had gone on holiday. Her husband turned out to be the installation company. Very convenient if you ask me.
When delivered was missing a work top, a box of flooring and door handle. It took me hours of phone calls to the Portsmouth shop and the customer care managers at head office.
They DO NOT communicate with each other or you the customer.
I was told kitchen would be installed within 5 working days. It took 4 weeks of constant chasing either shop or head office before our kitchen was installed.
I threatened them with the furniture ombudsmen and was put in contact with the area manager of wren portsmouth area. Who finally helped us after 4 weeks.
The day after our delivery the customer service person I was to deal with was suddenly removed and it took me 4 days and complaining to the Portsmouth shop and head office before I was able to talk to someone about the missing delivery items.
We are in the process of looking for a bathroom fitter at present. Wren do bathrooms. I will not be buying or having it fitted by wren.
My advice. Don't buy a kitchen from wren. They are very very very bad at customer service.

I forgot to add.
The kitchen units , work tops, sink, flooring and washing machine are all great . They look great and function well.
We are happy with our choices.
Shame the customer service is not as great.
We did our research and took a chance after the bad reviews.
Sadly a great product is let down by a very poor customer service.
Watch out for hidden costs, doors, handles , flooring under lay , cupboard edging, floor edging, ect cost extra.
The prices you see advertised are usually for just the units. Our kitchen doubled in price once extras are added.
If you need to move sink , dishwasher and washing machine to a different area, it costs extra.
Read the small print as wren will remove old units and expect you to pay more to update piping extra. Their installation just covers removal and replacing back in same place.
It's not clearly written and becomes confusing as to what wren installation covers and what extra you will have to pay builders for fitting your kitchen.
Good luck
I hope all goes well.

Hi
We installed a new kitchen in 2013, in our previous property and used a company called Optiplan (www.optiplankitchens.co.uk)
They were excellent. After discussing our requirements, they gave us a rough idea of what we could have whilst we were in store.
They then came out and after doing their own measurements, finalise the design.
I can not recommend them highly enough and if/when I need a new kitchen, they will be the first and only company I call.

Thank you all for your advice - I'm glad I asked. I will look at the company Elliott recommends but if anyone has other recommendations I would love to know!

We purchased our new kitchen from wren in Guildford and had it delivered to our new house in Dorset.
It all arrived on the day they said with nothing missing it was a large kitchen and the quality we found to be very good
I made a error when fitting and they replaced the part there after sales service was really good

Jacksons in Petersfield are brilliant. Nothing to much trouble and the guy who does the planning is actually more excited about your possible new kitchen than you are!!
