Liphook Youth Club
- Editor (6th Jul 2015 - 14:09:32)
Liphook Youth Club is open to young people in School years 7-11. Young people in Liphook need a safe space to call their own, but to continue this we need your help!
Volunteers - We need volunteers to support our youth workers in youth club sessions delivered in the Liphook Millennium Centre. We aim to resume these sessions twice a month in September, as these sessions are currently on hold due to a lack of funding and volunteers. Could you offer two hours of your time once a month? Training, if needed will be provided free of charge.
Could you help us by sharing your skills with us? For example, running a cookery, craft or sports session?
Committee – Behind the scenes of every successful youth club is a Management Committee. Without committee members, the club cannot run. We are looking for more committee members and also to fill vital roles such as treasurer and secretary.
Donations – to continue the running of Liphook Youth Club we welcome donations from the community. Funding for Youth Work from Hampshire County Council has sadly finished which has seriously impacted on the running of Liphook Youth Club. Maybe you could choose Liphook Youth Club as your charity in a sponsored event?

Re: Liphook Youth Club
- John Tough (28th Jul 2015 - 08:58:50)
Press Release
Liphook Youth Club Suspended through Lack of Support
The Annual General Meeting of the Liphook Youth Club Management Committee was not quorate on Tuesday 21st July. The Committee has been concerned for sometime that community support for the Youth Club has been dwindling and this was confirmation of it. The Youth Club has already had to close because there were not enough volunteer helpers to support a Youth Worker and now the Committee has had to suspend operations until more people come forward to be members.
This is all very sad because Liphook Youth Club has been running successfully for 6 years on Monday evenings in the Millennium Centre. It is particularly sad because there are about 30 young people from the village who would attend the Youth Club and would benefit from it. It has been serving young people aged 11 to 15 (school years 7 - 11) and also, on a one-to-one basis, older young people. It has also been very usefully conducting outreach work around the village
In the meantime anybody who would join the Management Committee or volunteer to support Youth Workers - or both - should contact John Tough 01428-724492 johntough@johntough.co.uk so that the Youth Club can be re-launched as soon as possible.
End
