Traffic Noise London Road
- Joan Williams (1st Jul 2015 - 00:33:40)

Has anyone else noticed the big increase in heavy lorries presumably supermarket ones using the London Rd after midnight? Also the vibration and rattling from the trailers seems to be getting much worse?

Hi joan, i live on the portsmouth road and i finished work at 9, a huge morrisons lorry and other lorries, were thundering past along with other cars, i had to shut my windows as they were waking me up. Its awful, hope its not tonight as well, i cant understand it, only a few random lorries normally and cars.

The increase is due to overnight northbound closures on A3 for maintenance Monday it was Petersfield to Bramshott

I noticed it on Monday night.... Massive lorries were thundering along the road all night....my house was shaking several times and I'm pretty far set back from the road.

I've emailed EHDC several times about this issue as it is mostly due to a huge dent in the road outside PRC...it's been dug up and filled in more than twice now but it's back to how it was before.

If a horsebox hits the dent you hear the horse whinny, when a lorry tanks over it, it makes a loud bang and shakes the house. I have also watched debris flying off an aggregate lorry after hitting it.

Maybe a few more residents could email EHDC about this and they may act quicker?

Helen,

Just to say informing EHDC will get you nowhere with regard to Highway faults as they are not responsible.

You need to contact HCC. It can be done via their website and click on the Highways section and report a problem. When ever we've done that they have been very quick and efficient in sorting the issue (surprisingly!)

Hope that helps you resolve the issue.

This traffic is being diverted off the A3 northbound around Petersfield in the evenings and straight up the old A3, through the village and back onto the A3 at Liphook. No idea how long it will last, but it has been every night this week so far.

resurfacing is being carried out on A3 as per information relayed sometime back its called noise reduction (new tarmac). so far they have done the north bound carriageway both lanes and I can honestly say it has already reduced the noise level

Hi I have heard the terrific noises of lorrys going past on the London road
My whole house shakes vibrates
Especially my wardrobe and windows
Since moving in last august I have noticed more traffic coming
And more traffic noises gone midnight

Sometimes it does frighten me and I think the house is going to cave in
Or windows are going to fall through :(
My little one wakes up too over it

I don't mind it but I just hope it stops at some point
As it was peaceful before :)))
