Living on Portsmouth road

When we moved in here no one ever told us the best feature of the property - you will experience the sewage overflowing right in front of the front windows multiple times a year!

I saw the awful stream of sewage today. It was so bad my daughter and I had to cross over the road before a car came along and sprayed us with the filthy water!

There was a big stinky blockage by the flats a few weeks back. Apparently there was lots of flushing going on during the Corrie ad break. They must of flushed it down the road towards the Square.

regular occurance blockage gets cleared but they do not sort out why it gets blocked

with extra houses at silent garden being built can only get worse

water company called yesterday to get sorted

It is important to take photographic evidence and send to the environment agency for their contamination records. they don't believe locals when it is mentioned - so it is imperative that if this is to be rectified that every ''human faeces on the pavement'' issue is documented.

PLEASE record and take photos every time it occurs.

It is a danger to public health and a travesty that the big water companies continue to let this occur whilst knowing that the present infrastructure is not fit for purpose.

Yes this is the second time within 6 months this has happened. It was even worse this time. Raw sewage was floating down the drive of the house opposite the church centre. Feel so sorry for them!

You can only imagine what will happen when all these extra houses are built down Portsmouth Road, and around the Church Centre. But I'm sure Mr Cox and his subsidiary GVI Ltd. will continue saying the sewage network down Portsmouth Road can cope with another 400 houses!

This is a disgrace. It affects the whole community but of course has the worst impact on those who live along Portsmouth Road, and the very many people who walk that route, especially between the train station/Newtown and Bohunt.

Dawn's post is very helpful but communicating with local councillors at all levels will also be valuable. And asking the water company how many times this has happened in the last five years under a freedom of information request might also indicate how strongly you feel about it.

Probably worth pointing out however that the housing development at Silent Garden is - as far as I recall from the planning details - not going to connect drainage etc to Portsmouth Road.

County council where out today as well as Enviroment agency and thames water

So thank you to Ferris Cowper ( due to a resident contacting him) for getting them out and start the ball rolling of getting it sorted

Silent Garden development is not connecting to the Portsmouth Road according to the council as they have not had plans submitted for this but looks to be going Longmoor road way instead

There is a small pumping station at the entrance of Larch close but not big enough for any more houses.
