London Road twined with Silverstone
- Mark (20th May 2015 - 22:24:21)

New race track on London Road? Judging by the number of speeding cars bombing up and down from the A3 at night recently. Loud exausts squeeling tyres. No wonder the touring caravan departed from the pit lane.

NEW! its been like this for years...you hear the trepidation as they approach the end of the 30mph pit lane and off they go..double exhausts blazing or falling off, go faster stripes flashing in the breeze...trainer wheels rotating at the speed of sound.ish, and then the screech of tyres as they throw the regulation fast food wrapper out of the window, adjust the seatbelt and apply the spot cream and off they go to the sound of mothers insurance docs crying softly in the breeze.
Ah the joy of living near such a notable track.

The speed people drive on London road is a joke! what bothers me most is that it's only going to get worse, with the new builds that are being constructed at Maple Park and the proposed development down the road.

There is a reply on the Parking on the Haslemere road debate, there is a community speed awareness initiative but nobody wants to volunteer their time to monitor speed or traffic.

I'll put my hat in the ring and volunteer. I know this wont deter the late night BOYZ. Believe me, I can here their banging subs and bang bang squeak muzaK roaring past.

Just what I was thinking.
But of course
(tip) the police would not even think to place an unmarked car in the pit lane keeping the horse company..... Say between 9pm and Midnight weekdays. Peaking Fri and Sat.
But of course this road is perhaps a close runner up to Portsmouth Rd
or rather Hanger Straight. Spot cream really flys past Stirling Moss Court while the local chavs pot party loudly......

My office is in London Road, just by the change from 30 to 20 (or vice versa) and I am shocked to see the speeds at which some vehicles appear to be travelling, especially as this is during the day when there are more pedestrians, including children about. Perhaps some rumble strips or some other traffic calming is required.

hi Ben, well done for volunteering, can you text me on 07768152362 and I'll get the person in charge to give you a call :)

Same goes for anyone else interested in joining the team?

Thanks, Jo
