Cars driving along Passfield Common
- Passfield Common residents (12th Nov 2009 - 12:56:38)

We would very very much appreciate it if anyone driving to Passfield Stores on Passfield Common could stop using the bumpy road/track which runs to/from the shop car park and instead uses the main road.

The track is access for residents only (as stated on signs at both ends) and is in very poor condition. No one but the residents of the houses upkeeps the track. It is National Trust land with rights of way granted to residents of the houses only, but the National Trust do not take care of the pot-holes/ditches. It is up to the residents to do this but any infill is soon eroded by the amount of traffic.

The amount of traffic using this small road is ridiculous, particularly lorries and very early morning vans who bump and bounce and bang along at speed. Even a handful of cars doing it as a 'one-off' every day makes a difference to the road condition.

If people could think and use the main road instead we would be very grateful.

Thank you

Crikey,
I can't imagine anyone choosing to drive along it!

They must have very good suspension to even think about it!

I suppose you could always think about erecting a chain of some sort at either end?

Good luck
Dawn

Oh Reg! You’ve sussed me out. I've been calling myself Dawn all these years - but yes - really my name is the Passfield Common Residents……You Wally.

In fact, I’m not sure if you’re aware, but there are hundreds of houses in Passfield. I live in only one of them. It is not on the Common. It may have been above your level of intellect, but seeing as there are hundreds of houses – there are also hundreds of people – and not every post with the word Passfield in it automatically comes from me!

The roads on the common are a real issue to people here, so why shouldn’t they post about it? It has nothing to do with me, but I wish them all the best in keeping the rogue cars out.
