How busy is your GP Surgery? - Jane May (15th May 2015 - 11:09:59) We, at Liphook Village Surgery, work hard to try to meet demand. In the first quarter of 2015 there were: • 6025 patient consultations (either face to face, at home or on the telephone) with the doctor. • 1638 patient consultations with the nurses • We did 855 blood tests, 145 ECG’s, 38 ear syringes, 113 wound dressings (usually requiring a 40 minute appointment), and 156 sets of baby immunisations • The reception team handled 6794 telephone calls However, in the last year a massive 1064 appointments were wasted due to patients failing to attend or cancelling an appointment with their doctor, nurse or healthcare assistant. Some of these appointments were half an hour in length. This directly affects our ability to be able to offer patients appointments when they want them.
