Cycling advice
- Lu (12th May 2015 - 22:00:03)

Hi all, I'm new to cycling and want to explore Liphook and the surrounding areas on my bike but off the main roads and not too hilly! I appreciate I might be asking a lot, but any suggestions for 7-10 mile routes I can try?
Thanks

Try going round the Woolmer Forest ranges. It's mostly an old railway track so fairly flat

The Woolmer Ranges circuit is ideal for safe flat riding, and is approximately 8 miles as a round trip from the centre of Liphook. Most people access it through Conford. However, the scenery is a bit limited. Personally I would suggest you buy the OS Haslemere and Petersfield explorer map 133 (orange). It's easily availabe online but I think Gables sells it. There are so many beautiful lanes around here to cycle, especially at this time if year. You could plot loads of different routes, either in the Milland Valley, or off towards Selbourne area, or through the Bramshott lanes towards Headley and along the lanes behind Headley towards Churt. As long as you stick to the yellow lanes the roads should be fairly quiet. Unfortunately it will be hard to avoid hills but if you keep up the cycling I'm sure you'll be amazed how quickly your stamina will build up and you'll probably end up going further and further over the weeks just for the joy of exploring unknown lanes. I wish you many hours of happy peddling!!

+1 for the range track. Can be accessed either via Conford Park (a flatter route) or by the Deers Hut/Weavers Downs for when you're wanting a bit more of a challenge!

You can get to Liss Forest completely off road from the Range Track.

There's plenty enough decent tracks around here to manage to stay off the road.

We organize local rides via our Facebook page (mainly starting in Bordon/Whitehill) but do go via Liphook for a lot of the rides. We're not fast, more about enjoying the area and getting out there.

Thank you all so much! Lots to explore!
