Skate park AKA Sainsbury’s trolley destruction park.
- Karen (11th May 2015 - 21:38:44)
Over the past 3 months half a dozen or more new Sainsbury’s trolleys have been taken and left at the skate park, successive groups of kids find the trolley and can’t resist the fun to be had on finding something with wheels within the skate park late at night for a bit of messing about. The trouble is unlike skateboards and bikes the trolley smashing sound is very loud and is waking my young children and those of my neighbours every weekend and most nights in between.
I have taken at least half a dozen trolleys back to Sainsbury’s over the past few months, walked all the way looking like an idiot with an empty trolley well outside Sainsbury's only for it to be replaced at the skate park by another within days, each new trolley lasts about a week before its utterly wreaked and everyone nearby suffers with the crashing sound of a new group of opportunistic vandals tearing it apart on the ramps. Neighbours have asked many of the groups to be quiet and to be fair all have departed politely only to leave the trolley they probably didnt bring to the skatepark behind for the next group to find and have some fun on! its endless now !!
I don’t have the time to take every trolley all the way back to Sainsbury’s, instead for the past 4 times I have called them on 01428723124 and politely asked them to retrieve it. Each time I was dealt with politely and told someone would be around to pick it up.
On no occasion did Sainsbury’s send anyone to pick the trolley up!!
Yes I understand it’s not Sainsbury’s fault the trolley got there, but if a resident takes the time to ask you to retrieve your property from the skate park and you promise to do so....... then bloody do so!!
Maybe Sainsbury’s just want our money and couldn’t give a shit that their own unsecured property is being used to wake up school children and also destroy the skate park 3-5 nights a week !
Its a shame no one gives a hoot, least of all Sainsbury's and I wouldnt be surprised if someone replies to shoot me down with some nonsense of "why didnt you" or "the kids have nowhere to play" or "your ranting"
Surely someone reading this can pass this up the chain of command in Sainbury's and turn a polite helpful resident call into a promise you actually follow through with???

I saw three teenage boys pushing a trolley each through Midhurst Road car park from the direction of Sainsburys and through the cut through to Chitlee Manor. I assume now that they were heading to the skate park.
This was about a month ago and at about 9pm on a weekend night.
I would have told them off (they looked a bit sheepish) but was unloading a sleeping toddler from my car.
If I see them again, I will let them have it!

One very effective way of stopping Sainsburys trolleys being removed from site and dumped elsewhere is for them to be secured and use of them is only possible if a pound coin is inserted. I believe the Sainsburys in Grayshott have this process in place.

Sorry I should have added that in order to retrieve your pound you have to take the trolley back to the trolley park, insert the clip and your pound will pop out. I am sure most people know that but it really is an effective way of ensuring that trolleys are returned to the appropriate place.
