- London Road Resident (10th May 2015 - 22:25:04)
Can the London Road motorcyclist who leaves his engine continuously reving / ticking over in the early morning hours. Sunday before 7am. Please stop doing this. You are waking up families of nearby houses. I appreciate you are off to work but there\'s no need to leave your bike\'s engine running for this long before leaving.

My guess is he probably has heard the myth that motorcycle engines being high performance engines need warming up prior to use. This may have been true 30 years ago, but I don't warm up my engine and thus far it is at 80000 miles and counting.
Best advice....Get bike out, start engine, put on crash helmet, drive off at a moderate pace until the whole engine and chassis is warm
It is not just the engine that needs to be warm before the performance is explored, the chain, forks, suspension, brakes and riders brain all need to be warmed up. Running the engine at standstill does none of this.
I don't suppose anyone has tried to have a chat with him about this?
