Fundraising lunch Sunday 10th May
- dawn (5th May 2015 - 14:10:56)

The Nepalese owner of the Bay Leaf Restaurant in Grayshott is opening his Restaurant on Sunday 10th May from 12noon until 3.00pm and inviting people to come and eat and drink what they like at no cost.

However, there will be a box for people to make a donation which will go towards the relief of all those caught up in the tragic Nepalese earthquake.

Bishnu Kharel, the owner, has many of his family and friends in Nepal and reports that the whole area has been ravaged with scores of villages still to be assessed. The living conditions are now very harsh.

He and his staff were desperate to make some form of contribution and decided to appeal to the local folk of Grayshott and surrounding area. They therefore agreed that they would provide a running buffet on Sunday 10th May, free of charge, and ask for villagers to call in and make a donation to the cause.

The funds will then go directly to the Red Cross working out in Nepal. They are providing food supplies, family essential items, medical aid, shelter and blankets. All cheques to be made out to “Red Cross – Nepal Earthquake Appeal”

He went on to urge all those able to, to look in on the day and enjoy the good food and drink, or just come in and make a donation.

NEPAL EARTHQUAKE APPEAL

On Saturday 25 April a massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal. It severely shook the lives of at least 8m people and left many homeless. Nepal’s major cities, including the capital Kathmandu, have been badly damaged and rural areas near the epicentre have been completely cut off by avalanches.

The Disasters Emergency Committee member agencies and their partners are working urgently to provide emergency shelter, food, clean water and blankets.

Once immediate, life-saving needs are met they will work with individuals, families and communities to support them to rebuild their lives.

You can help by making a donation now. www.dec.org.uk/appeals/nepal-earthquake-appeal
