Shopping in Waitrose Petersfield
- Katy Bath (29th Apr 2015 - 12:31:47)
The community support laundry in Liphook is delighted to have been chosen by Waitrose in Petersfield as one of its three nominated charities for the month of May.
Customers shopping in Waitrose are given a green token to select which charity they would like to give a donation to and then £1k is split between the three local charities depending on the number of tokens awarded.
If you happen to be shopping in Waitrose we really would appreciate your vote.
The laundry washes dries and irons clothes for elderly and incapacitated people in Liphook and surrounding areas. The laundry had one paid laundress and eight volunteers who also collect and deliver laundry for free for those unable to do it themselves.
As people live longer and are staying in their own homes for longer they find the laundry a great help. Many struggle to wash and lift heavy loads towels and bedding or peg it on the line etc.
We currently do 15-20 loads on average each week at our small laundry next to the Peak Centre.
All votes would very much be appreciated and will help us keep the cost at the same price as when we took over four years ago. The cost is £6 per washing machine load to be washed, dried and ironed.
Many thanks for your support.
Katy Bath, secretary
PS a good excuse for some bank holiday waitrose treats!
