Hungry Horse
- darren (22nd Apr 2015 - 21:01:31)

We have just gone and had a family meal at this place and can say we wont be going back any time soon!
After ordering our food and drink at the bar which the barman could not fully function and had to repeat our selfs 2 or 3 times to him and explained that we would like the kids meal to come out asap we finally sat down at our table with our drinks.
After 1 hour and 20 mins had gone and finally the food came out 1st meal came out and then had to wait another 5 minutes for the rest to come out and finally the last meal which was the kids dinner which we asked to come out asap. One of the meals was cold and had put my partner off so we left as soon as we all had finished the food was ok but the service was awfull.

Its cheap and (not always) cheerful. TBH I'd sooner save up, go out less and go to somewhere better.

We recently went to the Seven Stars at Stroud and it was lovely.

+1 for Seven Stars

If it really was that bad, perhaps you should complain to their head office? Is it Greene King or Fullers?

The anchor is an absolute health hazard and hasn't shown any improvement whatsoever since the criticism last year
Won't be eating in there ever again !

My family and I have been going in there for years and love the place. Yes you can wait a while at busy times but that's understandable

food is not always consistent that is true in my opinion but ..........

my friends and family have been eating here for years there are times when they get the food wrong , however i would say the staff have always been helpful and polite

any issues have been sorted quickly

Odd as I was at the anchor for most of the day, I'd had lunch and was naughty and stayed in the garden all afternoon and then had dinner. As I recall, the longest wait on food this day got to around 40 minutes or so, so I believe there has been a slight exaggeration here! Perhaps I'm biased, I've always been loyal to the Anchor. The staff are just so lovely and thoughtful and they currently have a couple of new members, so perhaps you were served by a trainee? We all have to start somewhere....
They are frequently very busy so you would expect a wait, it's a very popular place! The food is exactly what you'd expect, if not more as it's so inexpensive and you'll never leave hungry!
