Liphook's Litter Picked
- Philip Jordan (20th Apr 2015 - 19:19:23)

A big thank you to those who turned up on Sunday morning to help members of Liphook in Bloom pick up litter and various other assorted thrown away items.

This year, with the exception of Sainsburys, we were very pleased to note that there was less litter. However what there was could be less still if all residents and visitors were more careful............please!

An obvious way to have less litter is to avoid creating it! Or if you are able to pick some up and use a bin to deposit it safely. A number of very helpful folk already try and keep their "area" litter free; every little helps.

Help us achieve less litter in Liphook.

Philip Jordan (Liphook in Bloom)

If sainsburys was the only exception surely as a responsible business they should be employing someone to litter pick their site on a regular basis. A company as huge as them has a corporate responsibility to look after the environment. I hoped they sent some people to help with the pick?

Well done to all the people that did participate you have done a great job.

Thanks to Phil and co for coordinating too.

Liphook looks so much better and the flowers shine out much more with no litter around. Well done to everyone who helped. I try to do my bit in a small way as I have noticed that when the road sweeper comes in my area there are often several cars parked which means that the machine cannot get to clear the roadside. I just keep my front garden and parking space and a bit more of the road free of rubbish - it's not much in the grand scheme but I guess it all helps.

It is really helpful if everyone made sure their own little patch was clear of litter. Never underestimate the value of this!

Thoroughly enjoyed the morning. Thanks again to Philip and the Liphook i Bloom team for everything they do.

Can I just say that as a member of staff at Sainsbury's we do "Do our bit", My management team allow myself and colleagues time out off the business at least 3 times a week to go smarten up the councils recycling area!

This is due to non recyclable items constantly being dumped, Many times I have had to take TV's, garden waste and other items like car wheels and old engine oil in bottles off to Bordon tip. Also a company at least once a month likes to leave duvet covers (at the most 4 in one go) full of clothing and rubbish near the Oxfam bin for us to deal with.

The council also get left food waste (Highly recyclable)! We have to deal with And if we didn't sweep the broken glass it would now be upto your knees! We do do our bit!

Rob, Well done. I do know it gets very bad there so it is much appreciated.
Perhaps cctv or a dummy camera might put people off.
