Postal Dispute
- Paul Robinson (29th Oct 2009 - 07:29:26)

We in Liphook and surrounding areas will not be surprised to find that our regular postmen and women have remained loyal to their customers and have, where possible, continued to deliver mail every day.

Whilst I personally believe that the cynical board of Royal Mail, aided and abetted by Lord Mandleson, fully intend to privatise the network at the earliest opportunity and, no doubt, trouser a substantial bonus, they and any potential buyer should not forget that the whole system relies to a very large extent on rank and file postmen for the crucial last mile of the delivery proceedure.

As for the leaders of the Communication Workers Union, whose obdurate luddite attitude to further mechanisation of the sorting system is both petty and obstructive, I personally would prefer to deal with a body who could pronounce the name of the company correctly and not refer to it as the 'Rawle Mel'

I agree the postmen and women in Liphook are brilliant and deserve better management, but in these days of email and competition on the parcels etc can they really make a profit on letters?
