Plymouth Brethren Christian Church
- dawn (10th Apr 2015  18:23:23)

It was interesting to drive down Hammer Lane and see the remains of the ‘yellow ribbons’ that are all over the tree stumps.

On looking in to why they are there I found this on teh Grayshott forum.........in December a group of ex-members of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church (PBCC) held a Tie-A-Yellow-Ribbon (TYR) Remembrance at Grayshott. They perform TYRs regularly at PBCC sites, tying ribbons with loving messages written on them to remember people trapped in the PBBC (or those who have passed away in there) with whom the PBCC allows them absolutely no social contact. They chose Grayshott on this occasion because the PBCC purchased land there in recent months and immediately felled a group of trees on a rural lane without any local consultation or consideration. The ex-members regard the tying of ribbons to the stumps of these trees as particularly symbolic.

Anyone in any doubt about the PBCC’s practice of “separation” and its devastating impact upon individuals and families need only read the UK Charity Commission statement, here:
http://bit.ly/charitycommission
(especially pages 47-52 – the Faith in Practice document which the PBCC has promised, but is failing to, follow).

I have put some links here:

Felling trees without consultation -Do you mean they were subject to a tpo and were felled without permissions. No matter what religious affiliations surely the council would act on this.

There was no TPO at the time, but the lane is "protected" (a misleading term) by the Grayshott Village Design Statement. The loss of the trees, in what was interpreted as a naïve attempt to assist creation of a new access to the site, caused a stir amongst neighbours and regular users of the lane. This, in turn, led to concern about the behaviour exhibited by the new owners of the site. Ex-members of the PBCC organisation felt it appropriate to perform one of their TYRs there, as reported above.
