asylum seekers housing
- Neil (20th Mar 2003 - 11:14:25)
I heard that buildings at the stables along the Headley Road (about a quarter of a mile after the A3 bridge travelling away from Liphook) have been converted into cottages and were being used to house asylum seekers. Does anyone know if this is true?

Neil -
don't know if it's true, about the buildings but there have been groups of asylum seekers coming and going from Liphook for some time now.
Originally I think there were some families who were Kurds. They have since been resettled and now we have some other families, including,. I beleive, Somali opr Sudanese refugees.
I occassionally bump into them, as I live just before the A3 bridge, and they are alwasy happy to say hello. I think they generally are rather reserved - which isn't surprising when you imagine what some of them have been through.
