Karen and team,
Brilliant yet again. I am not sure who the "magic fairies" are that clear up, but 10 pm there was quite a bit of litter. This morning was an immaculate transformation - there is no way you could tell anything had gone on. Thank you "magic fairies".
As for the police charging next year. Over my bloody dead body. I pay my tax like anyone else, and they are a service to the community. Their (over) presence last night makes up for the complete lack of presence 364 days a year (PC Tedder excepted). Perhaps if they didn't go around in 3s it would be cheaper. What next - charging to solve a crime ? Has the world gone flipping bonkers ?!! Next they will be ditching police cars for mountain bikes ...
Bar the odd comatosed girl lying on the pavement honking, I was out all last night and thought the atmosphere was great. Still trying to figure out what all the youngsters do on a normal Saturday night, there were loads, and not one spot of trouble. I have no doubt there was the odd incident, but I bet no-one got locked up.
Cheers, Finchie

Indeed it was a nice evening for all,
I would like to say that Steve White did a very good job at the top of station road marshaling on his own - it would seem not everyone understands ROAD CLOSED signs and were a little disgruntled at being turned around, so well done to Steve.
Finchie, I agree there was a lot of police presence last night and do not agree that we should have to pay for this next year it would be a shame to see it go the same way as Romsey who have stopped the carnival due to charges etc.
We were not participating last night as we normally do and it was interesting to see it from the crowds point of view for a change. One thing we found concerning were the amount of people collecting money in non carnival buckets and saying the money was for various causes - we only put money in the buckets marked Carnival just in-case.
To all on the Deers Hut - Your float was a mammoth triumph
and
Phil and Friends we loved your float it had the best design and detail of all the floats, the effort that must have gone in to these particular floats was incredible
Cant wait to be back on a float next year.
Well done everyone involved.

Just want to add my congratulations to all involved in the Carnival this year........ committee, float builders, participants, marshalls, Police etc. etc............ and especially for him upstairs (if he had anything to do with it) for stopping the rain!
Great fireworks by C J Hampshire at the start and in Radford Park afterwards, they went on for ages, must have cost a fortune...... maybe a possible cut back to pay for the Police next year if required??
Would also like to say how brilliant the Likely Lads float was, did any of you all see how expert the costumes and make-up were?
A final big, big tank you also to all the hard working people who have cleaned up the village this morning. Have just driven through The Square and you wouldn't have known anyhing had happened there last night.... a truely excellent job!
Here's to next year.

A word on the 'Magic Fairies'.
Part of the carnival marshalling job includes delivering 'Road Closed' signs and cones on the Saturday morning. On the Sunday morning following the carnival, when most of the village is enjoying the extra hour in bed, some of the marshals are out collecting said signs, cones and bunting.
This allows us ample opportunity to spot the 'Magic Fairies' who, it must be said, bear a striking resemblance to members of the Liphook in Bloom team. Sporting pastel coloured rubber gloves and trailing huge pink bin bags they flit from place to place picking up the detritis left, not only by the revellers of the night before, but also the street traders and caterers who move off leaving great heaps of cardboard boxes and food packaging.
We are so lucky to be blessed with such caring 'fairies' who look after our village and leave it spotlessly clean each year.

We are very lucky in Liphook that so many volunteers turn up over the weekend of the Carnival to make the whole event run smoothly. There are the Carnival Committee and there are many others who just slot into their allotted responsibilities year in, year out. It was a great event this year so thank you to everyone for all your hard work both on Saturday for the event itself and for clearing up, bringing in signs etc. on Sunday.

Well done to all of you you gave a great deal of time and effort from the chairperson (neice Karen), committe, helpers marshalls, float builders, entrants etc, it was brilliant as usual. Keep up the good work. Dave missed it due to man flu! The police went round in 3's so they could say............ wait for it your going to love this! 'ello, 'ello, 'ello!! Dee & Dave

This was a superb event . Brilliant organization. The floats and fancy dress were imaginative and reflected the great community that is Liphook . The crowds were fantastic , well behaved and exuberant .
There didn't seem to be much involvement by the many schools in the area , which is a pity , or maybe just a reflection of the hard times....who knows .
A huge thankyou to the carnival committee and especially Karen Feeney.

Oh it's OK there were loads of police (at least three I think) playing 'A bridge to far' hiding behind walls with a speed gun on Old Portsmouth Road by the Post Office on Friday at about 6.00pm just as the light was fading (call me synical). Anyway thank goodness that at least we can all sleep safe in our beds again!!!!!!!!!!

I've just read the article in The Herald.
"waiting for the big noisy procession"
They obvioudly knew i was there then......................
I've not had any complaints so far though. (Touch wood)
All in all, great turn out this year. Well done to Liphook on the audience participation.

Aly, good to hear the police are enforcing the speed limits in the village at last! More power to their elbows.
