You can start by coming to our Carnival tomorrow night! Fun starts at Bohunt School at 12noon where we hold a fancy dress competition and then the evening fun starts at 6.30pm in the middle of Liphook as the procession passes through the Square and then does a circuit of the village. You will meet lots of people and be made to feel very welcome!
Hope you can come along,
Karen

Hi Karen
Welcome to Liphook. My husband and I have lived here for 6 years now and we still love the place very much. As newcomers I highly recommend that you, as a family, visit the Liphook Carnival tomorrow. It's wonderful for all ages plus it's the night that we celebrate our own Bonfire night with spectacular fire works, naturally the bonfire in Radford Park, plus the fairground comes to town. This is situated near Sainsburys.
This website will also keep you in touch with whats happening around the area plus is a great place to ask a question or find a reliable trades person, plus post any concerns you may have with local issues.
I hope you have many happy years ahead of you and that you find everyone to be as friendly as I did when we moved here.
Good luck to you all
Anne

Hi
Welcome to Liphook (Dibley). I have lived here for a vast number of years. I hope that you and your family are very happy here. There is a social club in the Headley Road in Liphook, we welcome families why not call in and say hello.

Karen,
Great timing. You have to come to the carnival. No excuses - if you have friends over bring them. If you have other plans, cancel them.
I am sure you will love the place. But there is an unwritten pact with all that live here. If you like it please don't tell your friends. Otherwise they will want to come too. And Liphook will grow too big and no longer be Liphook ! You will make lot's of good friends here.
We have been very successful with this approach - and tell our townie friends how much better London/Oxford/ is than Liphook. As a result none have come near us. Perfect.
Say Hi tonight if you spot us. I'll be sporting a beer or hip flask and a big grin, with a family all having a hoot !!!
Cheers, Finchie

Hi Karen.
As well as the carnival (which people travel miles to attend), you can join in with the bloomers, help with the newly forming youth club or join the ‘Street Watch’ team.
Bohunt have loads of classes to join to make friends – The kick boxing group on Mondays is particularly good for women (and is absolutely knackering) but there is such a variety of things to do there you won’t know whether to tap dance your way in, slink out with your squash racket or ‘Yee=Ha your way around the line dancing hall! Your girls can also join groups for Majorettes or Ballet there – the Liphook Academy of Dance is great – you will probably see them at the carnival later.
There is a very healthy U3A which has loads of interesting talks and lots of ancillary groups to join, also the WI with pretty much the same thing. Flower arranging goes on at the Church Centre, the Bridge club plays at the Peak Centre [near the Midhurst Rd car park] There is even a ‘Writers group’ if you want to get your creative juices flowing…..
If you look in the Liphook Herald, there is a ‘What’s On’ page and most of the clubs are listed there with there contact numbers and what day of the week etc etc
Events and clubs also at the Millennium Hall, like St Johns Ambulance, Scouts and Guides and also a Cinema (although that is a bit too expensive for what it is) and other acts and shows. Another Cinema which is relatively close, is Alton which is a quant little one man band – the same guy sells you seweets and drinks then goes up to run the film. Great!
The Tennis Club is great for both adults and Children alike and very friendly. That is on the Rec and you can play at the weekends or Tuesday nights.
Lots of organised walks if you have a dog and don’t know where to go. They meet on Mondays at Oakhanger usually [call 01420 472917] Or - get an OS map of the area you will be amazed how many public footpaths there are.
Conford is inside the Parish and has an absolutely BRILIANTLY organised group that regularly schedule professional actors and touring companies to put on plays, dances, and fantastic events. You have to be quick for the tickets as they usually sell out (it is a small hall) you get tickets from the Passfield Store.
Just down from Conford – is Stanford and they have a bric a brac sale every month which is a great place to look out for books (and get rid of the mountains of ones gathering dust on your shelf). Also in Ludshott Manor they have a coffee, crafts and bring and buy every month [that is in Bramshott].
The Passfield Club (social club) is near to you and they also have lots of events throughout the year, and a very friendly atmosphere.
St Marys Church is beautiful and they also have a Bell Ringers Group and beginners are always welcome - there are other options close by if you prefer a more lively congregation, such as the Church Centre (just past the sorting office in Liphook) which is more informal / less stuffy. Also for a lively service you can try the Three Counties Church in Haslemere. The RC Church is easy to find and has lots of parking there is also the Methodist Church in Stanford & Liphook and a Gospel Church in Liphook. The United Reformed church is in Beacon Hill (near Hindhead). All of these have lots of groups and activities for both adults and children. There are GodZone groups [youth clubs] on Friday nights at the Church Centre for all age ranges. In the summer holidays they have organised activities for the children as well.
I think you get back what you put in, so throw yourself at some of these activities and you’ll soon be adding new friends to you address book!
The only thing missing is a choir
Check out the home page of this site, there is an Events listing – which tells you what is happening in areas slightly further afield. Such as Bird Word, Alice Holt, Hollycombe Steam Fair, The Phoenix theatre (Bordon), Haslemere Museum etc etc.
I know that Bramshott itself is a little isolated, such as Conford and Passfield, but you will get used to travelling into Liphook. It’s not too far – just a pain that there is no public transport from the outer parish into the centre.
Despite it’s faults [which you will read about on this site no doubt!] This is a lovely place to live. There is so much to do you won’t know where to start!!!!!

Hi and welcome,
Make sure you pick up a Liphook Herald (our local paper) which always lists local events and news. The local radio stations are DIRE but give them a go anyway!!

Maybe you shouldn't read the events page in the Herald after all!¬!!!!!!
