buses to haslemere - jean lovell (16th Oct 2009 - 20:40:44)
can i please ask why there is no bus from liphook to haslemere? we moved back to liphook 3 years ago after living here an marrying in bramshott church 1968, i am sure that a bus travelled that route, i can not get the train to haslemere as i can not get on the train at the station as the platform is too low, and i am disabled, and anyway it only takes you to weyhill. Why was the bus removed? Maybe lack of use. Answers on a postcard please

I've never known a bus to run between Liphook and Haslemere in over 10 years - its always been the train.

It can be done - but it is a bit of a fiddle.
You get the 13 bus from the Anchor or the Station. Sometimes this is an AMK mini bus? Get off at Forest Road (Whitehill). Then get the 18 to Haslemere.
The 18 route is:
Haslemere Town Hall
Haslemere Station
Hindhead Cross Roads
Grayshott Fox and Pelican
Headley Down Heatherlands
Headley The Holly Bush
Lindford The Royal Exchange
Bordon fire Station
Whitehill The Prince of Wales
Bordon The Forest Centre
then back again to the Bordon Fire Sation
Wrecclesham The Royal Oak
Weydon Estate
Farnham Station
Farnham East Street
Weybourne The Elm Tree
Aldershot Bus Station.
And obviously back the other way in reverse. My son has to get to Merrist Wood college and has to go to Aldershot first to get the bus to the college! Madness.....
The only problem he has encountered is that the times for the 13 and the 18 often don't meet up - so he 'just misses' the connecting bus and then has to wait half an hour for the next one.
It does seem completely stupid to take such a convoluted route when you could go straight up the Haslemere Road from Liphook......
You can up load the timetables for these routes which are in pdf form - and also a lot of info can be found on www.traveline.info

I believe that one of the problems is that Haslemere is in Surrey and there is no cross over on local bus routes inter counties. There have been promised however by EHDC more local buses for Hampshire which have not started operating yet

The 13 bus that ran from Alton to Haslemere stopped 10 years ago partly because of funding between the two counties but also because the bus service was privatised. Like the rail service the buses are run by the monopoly called Stagecoach.
