Bad experience at Blackwell press.
- C.emily (12th Mar 2015 - 15:57:30)
I visited Blackwell press today, not for the first time but definitely the last. I am all for supporting local businesses however Blackwell press will not be getting my custom again. For starters the shop itself is a complete tip, mess everywhere. This however is nothing compared to the appalling service of the guy running that place. As soon as you walk in you feel unwelcome, and if the man in there decides to grace you with his attention, you are treated as an annoyance rather than a paying customer. And whilst we are on the subject of payment, the man seems to make up the prices depending on how he feels. My mother went in the to get a word document printed off, it cost her the reasonable price of 40p. Today when I was in there, asking for a word document to be printed off, I was charged £2. TWO POUNDS. for one sheet of paper. And when 'asking' me for the payment he grumbled 'gimme a couple of quid'. No please, no thank you. So.rude. Manners cost nothing. Especially towards your customers. No thanks Blackwell press.

I really don't like these kinds of posts. They're potentially do damaging to someone's business and and well being. If there is a valid reason to complain isn't it better to go back to the shop? And to build in comments about the tidiness of the shop? How is that relevant?
Anyway.... I use Blackwell press and find it absolutely fine and very convenient. We need to support our local businesses.

Whilst you may well have had a bad experience at Blackwell Press surely it would be better to air your concerns to Mr Blackwell face to face rather than slag him and his business off on a public forum?
Don't you think small businesses are struggling enough without this sort of nonsense?

I feel really sorry for the chap who runs Blackwell Press if he reads the original post. I don't know how long he's been there, but I've been using him for several years and find him very friendly and helpful, and his shop extremely convenient. He obviously works very hard and making adverse comments on a public forum could harm his business. If you feel that strongly then a quiet word in his ear, thus giving him the chance to address your concerns, would surely be the right thing to do rather than sounding off on here?

I really do think Talkback should not be used for this type of post. The very nature of this site means posters can use false names and anonymity so therefore it is conceivable that a competitor business, bitter ex partner, disgruntled ex employee can make a malicious post that could do extreme damage to someone's (and their dependents) livelihood.
If the editor feels that these types of post have a place on Talkback then perhaps before making public he should contact the business concerned and give the owner an opportunity to put their side of the case forward. It is possible that the owners of the business are not talkback users and could be completely unaware that allegations and complaints are out in the public domain
| | Hi Ian, that is in fact exactly what I did. Oliver was aware of the individual who posted. |

But it's ok to slate the Liphook Post Office staff DML, like you have done on here recently?

Everyone on here seems to be slating someone or some other business at some point and me airing my views on here is no more damaging to his business than how he treats his customers. How many of you have directly tackled any problems you have experienced? I am a polite and friendly person a I believe it takes nothing to be treated in the same way, especially when I am using his business. Being an independent business in this climate is hard enough, buisness 101 is to be decent to your customers, being rude and ripping them hoff is not the way to go. And this is talkback, I haven't posted any 'formal' reviews about his shop, I'm simply venting about MY experience in MY community. it's all very well jumping in the band wagon but I am not the first, nor will I be the last to complain about a local buisness on here.

And with regards to him helping out local charities, good for him. I admire anyone you helps any charity, but that really isn\'t the issues here is it? I help many charities, I do at least 3 charity runs a year, LIDBA, I give blood, I\'m an organ donor and i do volunteering at a local youth club, however this again isn\'t relevant is it.
