National Minimum Wage:-
- Dawn Hoskins (12th Oct 2009 - 20:32:02)

• the adult National Minimum Wage (for those aged 22 or more) increased on 1st October 2009 from £5.73 per hour to £5.80;
• for 18-21 year olds the NMW increased on 1st October 2009 from £4.77 to £4.83; and
• for 16-17 year olds the NMW increased on 1st October 2009 from £3.53 to £3.57.

Thanks for the update Dawn. Very grateful we have a minimum wage, i would like assurance from James Arbuthnot that should the conservatives become the next election the minimum wage is safe in their hands and indeed they would match the pledge that Gordon Brown made at Labour Party Conference to raise it in the next few years?

John, I'm afraid Mr Arbuthnott has ceased to comment on this website since the MP expenses scandal first came to light, funny that huh?

Now it’s reignited over the past few days, I hold little hope for him contributing in the near future.

Rhys,
I believe that all M.P'S have 3 weeks to challenge Legg's judgements. I imagine he will be drenched with "aw c'mons" from most. If the leniency exercised towards Jacqui Smith, former Home Sec., is anything to go by, they are all home and dry in their duck houses. However, I'm not sure that Legg will wish to be seen as the walk-over most predicted upon his appointment. We shall have to wait and see.
